> “ Yes.. you are family, too. Our brothers and sisters ... they are our family.”
Rahne is briefly taken aback by the boy’s sudden intensity, but pleased by the words. Some of Primer’s other followers and allies seem driven by motives she suspects will remain forever alien to her, but Roger’s simple formulation is very much like her own. This is her home, these are her people; everything else flows from that. "Aye." She gives in to a rare impulse and hugs the boy awkwardly – a simple one-armed squeeze of his shoulders, but more physical contact than she usually allows – before shifting into wolf-form and trotting off the porch.
The girl’s body is still on the ground, slowly stiffening, stinking of death… and whatever magic the boy used to end her life, the body itself must still be dealt with via more ordinary routes. The need to avoid leaving a trail to her own den is much the same here as it was in her old home, but she’s learned enough about her new world to know that the trackers here are far more skillful than the ones who trapped her months ago.
In a sense it doesn’t matter, of course – Primer is fully capable of convincing any officers who come to investigate that he and his household are harmless – but still, it’s best to take care.
So. Two bodies, one “obviously” killed by an animal, the other no doubt carrying traces of her fur once she’s carried it. Best they be found together, then; avoid suspicion, localize attention on the area where they were both found. She shifts to hybrid form and lifts the body over her shoulder.
"I’ll take care of her body, don’t worry. Ye can continue with what ye were about…" she trails off as she realizes all of the activity has scattered Roger’s salt-piles beyond recovery. "Och, I’m sorry… we’ll find ye more salt in a moment, aye?" She looks him over carefully for another moment, then lopes off into the woods.
