> " I'm not certain you'd believe me, Bruce. Suffice to say that there is a certainly a powerful telepath at the center of this charade! "
His training prevents him from showing any reaction, let alone blurting out anything quite so damning as “How do you know?!?” but her use of his secret identity disturbs him. Was it a slip? Or was she attempting to convey to him that she knows more than he had previously thought? He has no way of knowing, yet. But she does not appear overtly hostile, and she clearly knows something. So… he chooses to play along.
"And I’m not certain why you call me ‘Bruce’, but I’d worked out that much on my own. Who, where, why? What purpose does all of this serve? And what’s your role in all of it?" The questions are pointed, rapid-fire, in a calm voice that takes answers for granted.

> " Don't you know how to play fair? "
The Demon, pleased by the success of its wing-swipe (apparently, whatever enchanted armor his target is wearing, it does not prevent him from being crushed), takes a moment to indulge in a contemptuous laugh at the expense of its disarmed and helpless prey. "This is fair, mortal… you are weak, even with your enchanted weapons and armor. I am strong. What could be fairer than the strong defeating the weak?"
It snarls angrily when the whip flies back into the adventurer’s hand – more magic tricks! Bah! It doesn’t matter, though: his target has brought himself into range and off-balance, and the Demon knows now how to attack it. He brings his wings together in a mighty clap, like cymbals crashing or a giant’s hands, intending to crush his enemy into insensibility between them.

The party was interesting, but Riley noticed that nothing really was happening, except that people were talking to each other, mainly about business or politics. Riley walked around the room quite a bit. She would stop every once in a while, and talked to a few people, but she didn't talk with them for to long, because she would get bored with the topic that they were talking about.
While walking around to see who else she could talk to, she heard the clock chime, and realized that it was now twelve o'clock. At first everything was normal, but once the chimes stop, she felt very weird. Soon everyone changed, and the next thing she knows is everything going dark.
When she was able to see properly again, she looked around confused. She had no idea where she was and why she was here. The last thing she remembered doing was flying around in the sky, where everything was clear and white, and she was watching over someone and trying to help them out. She couldn't believe that she was down on Earth amoung people. She looked around some more and realized that everything was chaos and people were fighting. She knew that she had to stop them and try to create peace among everyone.
The first thing that caught her eye was a demond that was attacking a man. She knew that she had to help him and send the demon back to hell. She quickly went behind the demon when he moved his wings infront of him to capture the man he was attacking. She then grabbed his shoulders and tried pulling him away. She knew that demons and angels don't get a long with each other, but there was always a fear amoung them, even though they try not to show it.

Y'know, I might not make it back to tell the class about this one.
Indy wipes the blood on his face as he stares down his foe. Quickly, he deals a few more whip strokes to its torso. Then, with lightning speed, the demon throws his wings around and deals Indiana a crushing blow to the midsection, tossing him to the ground like a ragdoll.
He coughs, and lies there for a moment, wincing painfully. That's gotta be a cracked rib. What am I gonna do? Bullets are sure to be useless against this thing.
Suddenly, an.... angel?.... is pulling the demon back from him! This has gotta be some sorta trick. I never get the lucky break when I need it.
Nevertheless, he scuttles back on his ass a short ways, trying to regain his footing. Indy brandishes his whip, once again on the offensive. Wait. Wasn't I here for something?
He spys the object of his efforts on the wall behind the demon. There you are, sweet baby! Indy rushes past the struggling pair, half-jumping, half-falling, and begins to pry the treasure off the wall.

Its prey’s whip flashing against its torso stings, and it notes, out of the corner of its attention, the streaks of mortal flesh and blood appearing at the site of every enchanted whip-stroke, but the Demon no longer cares… the bloodlust has taken it now, it cares for nothing but the feel of this over-magicked adventurer’s sternum cracking open under its hands, the taste of his heart in its teeth.
The sound of bone breaking under its wingstrike excites it even further, and it steps in to deliver the final stroke, when it is interrupted by a body behind it and hands on its shoulders, pulling it back, allowing its prey to flee yet again. It roars its frustration and, without turning, swings its wings hard on the backstroke to crush the annoyance, whatever it is.

Once she had a hold of the demon and pulled him back, she was glad to see the guy was able to move further away. But with out the demon to look to see who it was, quickly swong his wing, which hit her. It sent her back a few feet, but she was still on her feet, and her wings came bursting out of her back. She was know angry with the demon.
With out a thought, she flew up into the air, and quickly flew infront of the demon. She landed on the ground, sperating the demon from the guy. She had her wings stretching out on either side, blocking the view of the demon, so it wouldn't be able to see the man. "Go back to hell, Demon!" she yelled at it.
ooc: yes i know it's stupid, but i didn't know what else to say.

Oh, my. I forgot that superheroes have secret identities... The irony of the situation isn't lost on Ororo - she just has no time for it right now.
> Who, where, why? What purpose does all of this serve? And what’s your role in all of it?
"I'm not entirely sure what the purpose is - it very well may be that there is none. I, in any case, cannot see any logic in it." Ororo sizes Bobby-turned-Batman up. "I am merely caught in the wrong place at the wrong time - as I imagine you are."
"Perhaps we should join forces to gather more information. This room is rather dangerous at present." Her eyes glow white as an angry-looking Ninja Turtle advances on them. Ororo takes a step back, calling her manipulation of the weather to bear. The electrical charge of the air is almost palpable, and the party guest drops to the ground as a finger of lightning plays across their chest.
"I suggest you take point. I am not dressed for hand-to-hand combat, as you can see." She indicates her gown and heels.

((OOC: Trying to get this party started again… Rogue, tag! ))
> " Perhaps we should join forces to gather more information. This room is rather dangerous at present. I suggest you take point. I am not dressed for hand-to-hand combat, as you can see. "
Bruce nods. Not that she seems to need to engage in hand-to-hand combat, with her capabilities. And obviously she knows more than she’s saying. But he’s willing to play along for now. The range-sensors built into his suit seem to be working properly – thankfully something is – so he ought to have some warning if she attempts to take him out from behind.
A door marked “Authorized Personnel Only” at the far end of the hall catches his attention, and seems as reasonable a place to start as any. "This way… and move fast!"
The most difficult thing about crossing the hall is not the multiple attacks from other guests, but remembering that they are normal people whose minds have been altered. He has to be gentle with them, or he might kill them by accident. The “zombie” is sent flying over his shoulder into an ornate glass punchbowl, the asthmatic “dragon” dropped to the floor by an elbow to the solar plexus, the “bug-eyed monster” howls in decapitated dismay and faints when Bruce yanks his mask off.
So when the auburn-haired “vampire” with the white streak lunges at him, he blocks casually and chops almost gently at the nerve cluster at the side of her neck, only to have his blocking arm brushed aside and his nerve strike ignored. He leaps to one side just barely fast enough to avoid being grabbed and regains his feet a few yards away in a defensive stance. This one isn’t just a costume, either.
" I’m not here to hurt you. I just want information – who are you; how did you get here?"

" "
The Demon is distracted by the heavenly annoyance for no more than a moment before its focus returns to its prey, now greedily prying some trinket from its housing. Perhaps that is why it was summoned here, to defend some ancient artifact from mortal depredations; perhaps that is merely coincidence. It does not know. It does not care. All that matters is its prey.
It has learned already that the adventurer’s enchantments are sufficient to turn its claws and negate its magic but provide no protection against sheer force of impact. So when it closes the distance to the distracted tomb-raider it wastes no time with claw or fang or spell, preferring to end things quickly with a single, powerful swipe of a wing. Barring a miracle of protection its prey will be smashed into the very wall from which it is prying its artifact, left broken and bloody and helpless.
As it readies its wingstrike, it becomes aware of how tattered its wings have become in the fight… very strange. Even stranger, beneath the wounds in its bat-winged glory it spies white feathers, similar to an angel’s, and that actually brings it a moment’s fear. Bad enough that whip converts his flesh to a mortal’s; if the adventurer’s eldritch protections can infect the Demon with angelic nature its very soullessness is at stake.
Well, no matter. Once the adventurer is helpless, the Demon can take him elsewhere, to finish consuming him in privacy – too many interruptions here. In the process it can learn all it needs to know about the source of his protections. It almost laughs in anticipated victory then, but chokes the demonic laughter off when it remembers it is attempting to surprise its prey.

Bingo! Indy laughs with glee. He's been looking for this artifact for quite some time. As he turns to make his escape, he's violently smashed to the side with the demon's wing. While falling, he flings his hands out wildly, coming into contact with the creature. In an attempt to lessen the damage from impact, his fingers scrabble for purchase on its chest. To his astonishment, the beast's skin tears like fabric, revealing healthy skin underneath.
What's going on here? Something's not right. The thought comes briefly, weakly, as he sinks to the ground. He half-heartedly strikes his whip out at the creature, hoping to ward it off. Breathing heavily, his weapon rolls out of his hand.
It's over. Shit.
