No matter how much she stayed at the institute everyone around seemed odd in the way they reminded her of the tourists back home. Bah, home filled with tons of green trees just like this one, all very boring. Now there was just the gymnasium with only a few kids hanging around. She thought there would be more at first, working out or something like that. But it would just turn out their powers were natural for them, no need for effort.
Unfair, I try and try and just get a crappy beam and ball of light.
So using powers in the basketball court wasn't allowed, maybe that's why there's a gymnasium. Sort of like a loophole. A good loophole to use when abusing sport equipment. This was referring to the already blown up ball in shreds close to her.
Lumen grabbed another ball and threw it up. Today is the day for rabi-saque. She focused on gathering energy around her palm, much like she did when jumping a warm light surrounding her hard. As soon as the ball came down she hit it hard as possible, causing to shoot off with the same light around it.
"V is for Victory!" Lumen said to herself turning around, doing a V sign with her fingers, ignoring where the powered up ball had gone to...

Which is directly towards the head of an unsuspecting student who freshly arrived at the academy and is getting to know the grounds.
Luckily, Damien has trained himself for situations like this one, and he blinks, and soon enough is out of the way of the flying ball, and in front of the girl who hurled it.
He smiles slightly at her, but then just goes on with his business. He is naturally shy, so therefore prefers not to start any conversations. Going over to a place free of equipment, he closes his eyes and concentrates for a few seconds.
He is wearing a pair of black jeans, black tennis shoes, and a black tank top. His hair is spiked, black, but it's now obvious that it has been dyed so from blond- Damien still hasn't found the time to redo it.
His eyes are dark green, and his skin seems tanned, as if he spent every day on a beach. All of these features, however, disappear for a split second, and then appear at the other side of the Gymnasium. Not even a moment goes by, and he is already at a different corner. And then again.
After five seconds, Damien has managed to be in every corner of the Gymnasium twice. "Verdammt, nicht schnell genug!" he comments in German.

Poof. Well, it wasn't a poof sound, but it was the best way to explain it, first the guy was there and then... not. It's not such a surprise, mutie powers were normal around there. The guy wasn't the important thing now though, her powers were. He was just another example of how some kids could just control their power so easily, something that she should be doing! Okay, so Lumen realizes that maybe she's been a bit mentally mean but they guy disappear, which probably meant he wasn't interested in talking to her.
Is someone talking to me? Lumen wondered after hearing some comment, not bothering to look around. She doubted it would be any psychic (or was it telepathic?) going all mind rape at her. Plus, it had sounded more like some gibberish to her, it wasn't like subliminal messages went like that. Ignoring that as well she picked up a new ball ready to throw it again. Now that guy was gone it was the turn for the super powered up kick.

Jean-Paul ws on gym duty... He hated gym duty, it was basically all the kids trying to show off with their powers. He saw Lumen trying to use her powers, he had been given strict instructions not to let any student who had problems controlling their powers (lets face it, that was MOST students) use their powers in the gym. Northstar sighed and shook his head, he whizzed to her side. "Now miss Moreno, you know the rules. No usingyour powers in the gym unless you have control over them, and we both know that you don't" He was using his stern teacher voice, it made him sick to think of himself as a disciplinarian, but hey, not all jobs were pretty. "If you want to practise using your powers use the danger room, with supervision of course. We can't run the risk of students hurting each other when they loose control.
Jean saw his reflection in her eyes and grimaced on the inside. Being a teacher wasn't very becoming of him, he saw every teacher he had ever had in his reflection, for a brief second he totally loathed himself, but he told himself that it was for a good cause, that he was doing this to help.
Jean walked away from the girl, having nothing else to say... He hoped taht he would be accepted into the X-Men soon, at least then the hours of teaching would seem worthwhile.

Whaa? There are no power using rules here! Oh and the nerve of that guy... sure she lacked the power but there was no need for people telling her! Even if he was a teacher. The only one that had been able to 'criticize' her had been Professor Xavier and he was dead now... but it wasn't time for that. 'Miss Moreno' bleh! That wasn't her first last name. Stupid, stupid Northie guy. He had officially entered her grudge list.
Lumen looked at the ball again, her new best friend. She took aim at his head when he walked away and threw the ball at him. It wasn't powered up or anything, and the whole look with little braids and a pout wasn't helping, but it was something. Right?
"¡Idiota soy Blume!" Calling someone an idiot in another language wouldn't help also the fact that he was probably a teacher as well. He could have been nice to me!

Jean turned and saw the ball just in time, he swerved to the left with ease, he then whizzed to Shayla's side and grabbed her arm, he then marched to the nearest wall. "Miss Moreno,do you know that i could I have you severely punished for what you just tried to do? You're lucky that my array of powers includes heightened reflexes, or you would be facing some real trouble!" Jean-Paul stepped back and and his face softened, "Listen Shayla, I know that to you "i'm just an old assbag teacher, but you have to remember, I have to do my job, and part of my job is enforcing the rules. And when you think about it, asking you to not risk the other student's safety with your seemingly uncontrol powers. I know it isn't easy to hear, to have someone tell you that you could be a potential health-hazard, but remember, that's why you're here, to learn control... But just not in the gym."
Jean looked at her, it didn't look she cared about anything that he had said. He sighed, teenagers were like that after all.

Day two at the Institute... or Mad House, as it should probably have been tagged. The second label certainly seemed to fit this morning.
Jake was by nature a morning person - early daytime suited his cheery (read irritatingly perky) disposition - but today staying hidden under the covers seemed a much better plan, since in addition to the jet lag all hell seemed to be breaking loose. One of the many disadvantages, probably, of having to keep an eye on the whole school; it meant that when things erupted, which they no doubt would, they did so inside his brain, which wasn't fun. Not for the first time he found himself contemplating the size of the wheelchair treads his feet were trying to fill... a mammoth task to say the least.
This morning's drama seemed to be firing off in the gym and so it was that, mentally duelling with himself to convince the part of him that wanted to hide in his dorm, or in his office, or anywhere that there weren't pupils, that duty and responsibility were sort of important now, he headed down there to be accosted by what looked like a face off between Prof.. (damn, he should have a better memory for names than this by now!) and a student he had yet to meet.
"Righty-ho" Steeling himself, he plunged in, disarmingly charming (or so he hoped) grin in place in an attempt to lighten the atmosphere. "What's the story, hmm?"

Usually, Lumen was in a good mood, not 100 percent cheery but good, her inner angry self kept away most of the time. By Inner Self she meant the angry at everyone that dared cross her path -Shayla'. Maybe that little arm grabbing thing triggered the other her to make an appearance, so did her powers, or something like that. Most angry moments were favorable for Lumen's powers.
Her arm started to glow, very much like before and she was ready to fry the teacher's hand...
>"Righty-ho"
...or not. The fried hands thing would be left for later. She immediately stopped and tugged her arm away from the teacher. I hope someone bites your thing off.
>"What's the story, hmm?" Trying to block any death wishes for 'Northie' she looked at the new teacher that had come in. He didn't look familiar, but lately there had been new staff popping out of nowhere.
"He sucks." Lumen would have never talked to any of her old teachers like that, but it was his own fault. That and her mind was too 'blergh' to think of anything good to describe the situation. Plus, the new teach looked... laid-back maybe?

<I hope someone bites your thing off...> Woah... not what he was expecting there. Another downside, it seemed, to telepathy - seriously, did it have any advantages? - not least because in spite of himself the thought made him want to laugh... But no. He was a professional... or something. Laughter would have to wait until he was off duty, if that ever happened. For the moment he was supposed to remain responsible and mature and...
And probably chastise her, or something. Could American kids get away with saying their teachers sucked? Should he be disciplining her? How the hell did you discipline Americans? Superpowered Americans? Did this teacher have a kick-ass enough power to protect him if he sided with authority and the kid went all schitz on them?Gack. So many questions... to say he was a fish out of water would be putting it very mildly.
"Okay" Well, that wasn't a bad start. "I'm going to need a little more than that if this is going to make sense. Why don't you explain what happened?"
That sounded a little like taking over... hopefully the other teacher wouldn't feel he was overstepping the mark, undermining his authority... after all, Jake was sort of the Head (no, Principle. This was America, he had to remind himself) now, right?

Well, he had to stop once. Damien has been practicing his speed, and was blinking all over the gym, above the heads of the three other present mutants. So why in earth did he have to run out of energy right above them, and fall right in the middle of the triangle they were forming?
"Verdammt!" he says out loud, and then picks himself up. "Um...sorry..." he says shyly. He just wants to be anywhere but here, but that wish will not come true, as he has spent all of his blinking energy for the hour.
God, this only happens to me. Why can't I just mind my own business, but have to drop in on everyone? he scolds himself while slowly trying to walk out of the triangle, and somehow sink in the ground, decompose, or disintegrate or disappear in some other way.
Damien HATES being the center of attention, and now he was so literally. Damn the shortage of energy! How is he supposed to get out of this one?

Jean looked at the new Principal, finally, someone to take over with Little Miss Bitchy Pants here "Jake, Miss Moreno here is being difficult, using her powers, her OUT OF CONTROL powers. I don't want to be the asshole teacher that tells her to obey the rules, so if u don't mind, being the prinicpal and all, you can take over from here." Northstar then turned to Shayla, "I was just doing my job..."
He whizzed over to the other side of the gym and began to watch the students climb the ropes, he doubted that any of them would actually be hurt if they fell, but still, better safe then sorry, and plus, he wanted to be well away from the Moreno brat, who did she think she was, she got to live here for free, actually got paid for it, all the students got a weekly allowance, yet she found it to be a bother to abide by the rules.

My powers are in control! ...most of the time. What an idiot. Lumen couldn't believe this guy was a teacher, most of the ones she'd seen before were nice, or at least tried to solve things our without insulting their students. So there was the ball throwing thing, but he totally deserved it.
"Most teachers know their students last name. Blume not Moreno." She mumbled as he left. In a way this was good, leaving went she had won. Won what exactly? On Shayla's mind every little argument is a battle, and those just had to be won by her. Then all was left the other teacher that seemed sort of nicer... and something about being principal. Wait, principal?!
Let's see, last principal was the strongest mind out there or whatever, meaning he had the mental powers which had to mean they were necessary for the job? Did he.. oh...
You know what I'm thinking! You probably know what... you.. you... mind raper!
Some guy had just fallen in front of them, or middle like. The one that had gone all 'poof' like before. What? This had to be too much, her mind was probably being invaded, the winning, the guy. Ack.. brain overload.

He doesn’t flinch when someone else quite literally drops in, figuring it’s high time he at least pretended to have seen too much to be surprised (after all, he’s supposed to be accustomed to these things… he’s running a mutant school, after all), merely steps aside to allow the kid an escape route, should he wish to use it, arms crossed over his chest in something like an authoritative matter as he tries to look like he’s seriously listening to what Whatever-His-Name-Is has to say.
> Miss Moreno here is being difficult ”It’s Blume..” he replies without thinking – it’s hard to miss how her mind is screaming that fact – though hardly loud enough for it to make much of an impact on the conversation… not that he would, probably, even if it were loud enough for anyone to hear. He’s used to being something of a non-entity, because everyone else has this connection, this shared albatross in Alctaraz and all that meant, and he’s just the new kid who has the audacity to sit in the big chair and try and tell people how to run their lives.
>” "I was just doing my job..." ”Why yes, of course. And carry on doing it.” It’s not as if he needs to say anything, since the guy makes no show of waiting for even his agreement to the suggestion, let alone any permission to leave - So much for authority… sigh – except that he needs to be seen to be trying to be the Principal. Once the other teacher has gone back to whatever he’s doing he turns back to Miss. Blume.
”Well, Miss. Blume” – special emphasis is reserved for the correct surname, a mental plea for her to recognise him as the ‘Good Cop’ to the ‘Bad’ she was facing off against – ”I guess I should be the asshole teacher… So, um”
Yeah, that wasn’t going to work, not even in pretence. Much better to just play it straight. That way he might earn some sort of not-hatred for his, erm, easy going attitude and… stuff. Yes.
Holy cow, being a teacher was harder than it looked.
”So, um” he resumes, stance and gesture exaggerated to compensate for how he’s dipped his voice so no one gets the impression he’s going easy on the kid. “”I’m going to tell you to, erm, obey the rules. And stuff. And suggest you forgo gym in favour of, erm, something else. Like heading to my office so I can pretend to be punishing you and do my ‘job’”

Lumen's brief brain panic came to a halt when she heard the teacher (or new principal, whatever) finally say her name right. ¡Apellido correcto! Estrellita para ti. The principal was defiantly on her good list. Well, he would have been on the list anyway, having a fight with a teacher was totally harmless compared to disliking and being on the bad side of the principal. His attitude made everything better too even improving her own mood.
"Though, the only place I remember that you couldn't use powers was the basketball court." It was sort of an excuse, the one she could say now that the oh-so-evil teacher Northie was away. Huh, he's pretending? Oh, so it's like bring.. half serious.
"If you think about it... non-muties use the gym to practice and exercise to you know, to have better physical body. So why shouldn't muties use it to have a better way to use their powers while excessing or something like that.. " Not the brightest explanation but it did make sense... sort of.
"Um.. which way is the office? Shayla decided to 'play along' anyway, there wasn't anything good to do in the gym anymore.
((Sorry for the crappy post (most of mine are like that xD) my brain is captive))

>""If you think about it... non-muties use the gym to practice and exercise to you know, to have better physical body. So why shouldn't muties use it to have a better way to use their powers while excessing or something like that.. ""[/color] "Y'know, that's probably the most sense anyone's made since I got here" he grinned.
God help him, it probably was. Certainly far easier to get his head around than the whole 'other world' he was suddenly expected to fit into, because a gym was something safe (heh... sort of. He hated the places himself, seeing them as torture chambers, but to each their own) from 'real life' which he could understand. He pondered vaguely suggesting that was what the Danger Room was for - wasn't that what it was for? Maybe. The induction was still a little sketchy, mainly because he wasn't paying attention to anything other than the inner child bouncing of the ceiling at the thought of a secret underground lair - but decided against it.
Shame Miss. Blume was apparently one of the 'trouble makers' (though he didn't quite know whether or not to trust Northstar's appraisal) because to him she seemed sensible.. sort of. In a 'head in the right place' sort of way. And god knows he had precious few contacts in the student (or, for that matter, staff) body at the moment.
"Oh... erm, follow me" *Exit Shayla and Jake to the Head's Office*
