Magneto knew of course why he wanted Pyro back, that much was simple, but the boy himself seemed to have no idea. Magneto thought that much would be obvious and maybe it was, maybe Pyro was just wanting to hear Magneto say it himself, a way to humble the old man a little and make himself feel better. Of course Magneto wasn't that humble of a man, he had his pride and lowering himself in front of some upstart ingrate wasn't on the top of his list of things to do for the day. However, Magneto also knew that if he wanted Pyro to side with him, he would have to do something to regain the boy's trust and faith in him.
As Magneto started to say something, he became first hand witness to something rather.....interesting. The floor of the bar suddenly split down the middle, leaving a gaping fissure, but the most interesting thing about all that, was what was standing at the beginning of that fissure. The old man's blue eyes left Pyro's for a moment, knowing full well the boy wasn't going anywhere just yet, he was itching for a fight as was Magneto, but that argument just might have to wait. Lance had Magneto's attention now and the old man smiled....although it wasn't your normal sunshine and roses smile, it was more......devious and sinister. "Well....that's very interesting," Magneto said as he leaned over the table he was sitting at and gave Pyro a quick glance, "Maybe our little argument should be rescheduled my boy, it seems something else had come up," he said as he watched Lance out of the corner of his eye, "Besides, I think we've both said enough to each other about failures and disappointments," he said turning his attention fully to Lance now.
Magneto hardly ever missed a chance to try and persuade a mutant to his aid, to his cause, even when he was clearly in the middle of something else. However, he knew Pyro wasn't going to leave him, the old man was really the only thing he had to hide behind for the moment and that was the way Magneto would try to keep it, give Pyro no other option to leave him for something else. "Tell me, just what else are you capable of?," he asked Lance clearly, curious as to just what his powers were and how he could use them to his advantage.

Typical.
Absolutely typical. Screw the rest of the world, Magneto’s got someone new to try and get his hooks into and that’s all that matters… Still, Pyro couldn’t deny that he too was… interested. And said interesting distraction had picked a highly opportune moment to steal the limelight; as Magneto had quite rightly put it, they’d both said more than enough to each other and while he was still spoiling for a fight that could, and probably should, wait, at least until he’d got his head straight and could do something other than shoot insults.
Looked like the Brotherhood really was back in business, then. Almost as quickly as the argument had erupted the atmosphere shifted again, with Pyro, for all his sullen scowling, falling almost too easily back into place. It wasn’t like he had any other option, really, was it? Right-hand man for the world’s most wanted terrorist wasn’t a job you could give up easily unless you had one hell of a death wish. With a brusque shrug which said Whatever far more eloquently than he’d no doubt have put it, given how well speech was turning out for him thus far, he dutifully dropped back, watching and waiting for the next series of events to unfold.

Lance didn't know whether he should answer. The protective cover of the bar wouldn't hold back anything Magneto might want to throw at himand the smartest way to go was to try and build up a show of toughness. Bringing himself up to his full glorious height he kept his eyes cold and his voice steady, while eying the others sceptically.
"Why d'you wanna know?"
Lance wasn't much of a talker and definately wasn't the type of person to give out all information about himself. Secrets kept him safe and was a totally smart thing to do in this dog-eat-dog world. For all he knew Magneto had one of those corrupt minds that would sell him out to save his own precious skin. As Lance was a survivor he knew that honesty wouldn't get him that far. Maybe keeping his powers of the low would convince them that he was just a harmless groundshaker.
He noticed that the short one looked like he didn't give a damn and that was alright, Lance was content to just try and stare him down. Silent messages of anger and pity went through to the tiny-man's eyes causing Lance to smirk. He really wasn't a nice man.

With a slight shrug of his shoulders, "Curiosity.....simple curiosity," he said casually, with a smile. Magneto had no fear from the boy and why should he? Lance looked very young, much like Pyro and with youth comes inexperience. Magneto was a powerful mutant, but his strength came not so much from his power, but from his experience wielding it and his own sharp mind. Power was a force to be reckoned with for sure, but power backed by genius and experience was even more dangerous. As he tapped his fingers on the table, his eyes narrowing as he size up the situation, waiting for Lance's answer, Magneto noticed Pyro assuming his old role very quickly. The boy may have been mad at him right now, but he still had his loyalty, something Magneto would remember. He would have to make up for his outburst and accusations against his protege later, but for now, Lance had his full and undivided attention.

Tricky, tricky... Lance knew he had to deal with this situatiom cleverly. He didn't know anything about this mutant and knew he could easily be washed away by whatever he had inside him. Lance didn't know whether or not he should answer, it would be too easy to just leave, get away and deal with something else.... but maybe he had to take it further otherwise he might regret the hesitation for the rest of his life.
"I'm connected to the earth and I can make it.... rumble like it's hungry."
Well that made no sense. Lance knew that he was being vague and slightly opaque but he was a man of very few words and that was the best he could do.

Lance's brief and odd explanation left Magneto questioning the boy's mental capacity for a moment. An odd choice of words considering who the boy faced at the moment, but with a shake of his head and a small chuckle, Magneto wrote it off as maybe nerves or just the fact that the boy wasn't quite as gifted with speech as some of the others within the Brotherhood. Giving Pyro a quick glance, Magneto realized just how much he appreciated the boy's quick wit and sharp tongue. "Not much on words are we boy," he said with a smile as he rose from his chair and gave the room a quick look around, "I take it your more of a man of action," he added looking back in Lance's direction.
Magneto rarely missed an opportunity to recruit someone if he could and this time would be no different. "You have a name boy?," he asked him as she put his hands behind his back, adopting his usual "I am the master of everything" stance. His blue eyes settled fully on Lance now, fixing him with the same gaze he often used on Pyro.

Wow, this guy really thinks he owns everything.
Lance looked at Magneto and raised his eyebrows. What could it harm to tell him. They weren't really getting anywhere by just standing looking at each other and giving vague answers to the big questions. But Lance was still torn. Magneto wasn't really a name that a mother gave to their son, so maybe it would be best if Lance gave another name that could show him and his powers.
"The name's.... Avalanche."
That name was perfect, given by his uncle to him and just hinted at the powers that lay within. Better to use this in conversation, after all Lance was a boring name to go by.
Now it was time to get back to the deep questions.
"Why'd you trash my bar?"
Real smooth Lance had to admit. He flinched as he saw the damage done, honestly some of it had been him but the other started it and he really wanted to know why.

Magneto smiled as Lance used his mutant name, a sign that the boy wasn't too much of a homo sapien sympathizer. Of course, working in this bar along side them also meant he had no place to go, no place as a mutant anyway and if he wished, Magneto jut might be able to change that. Giving another quick look around, Magneto smiled again, "Your bar? I was under the impression that someone else might own this place, after all, this doesn't look like the sort of place a boy of your age would be running," he said looking back to Avalanche, his head dropped a little and his eyes turned upward a bit, giving the boy something of a scolding look. It was amusing really, Magneto couldn't help it, maybe it was the fact he was so much older than the boy that made him look at him like some disapproving grandfather.
"Tell me Avalanche, do you enjoy working for these drunken homo sapiens day in and day out? Having to put up with their nonsense and having to suppress what you are around them just because it makes them uneasy?," he asked as he moved into his usual recruitment speech, holding his head up a bit higher now to give him some sort of air of authority.

Lance hid his confused thoughts, keeping in the "what else have I got to do?" it wouldn't be a good thing to start insulting other mutants or making them look stupid. Being tactful in these types of situations were wise but mentally hard for him to do, he really just wanted to go at him about how life really was if you're not brave enough to go try killing everyone. So Lance went through the more simpler route.
"What are you going on about? I'm old enough to run a bar and doing it gets me payed so what's the harm in that?"
It wasn't as if he could anything else. Lance took the chance to get away from his family and was happy to get by... at least for now. And he wasn't about to go mouthing off to those who held the paychecks. Maybe it was a cowards thing to hide among them but what else could he do?

Magneto noted the same smart mouth on this as was on Pyro. It had been so long since Magneto had been a teenager that he had forgotten just how sullen and emotional they could be, of course, in Magnus' case, he was never really given the chance to be a mere teenager. His early life was spent being tortured and starved to death before finally being freed from his captors but not before losing everything he held dear in his life. Those thoughts though, Magneto shoved aside and focused back on Lance. "Nothing is wrong with that," he said as he began to weave one of his intricate speeches, "that is until the detainment squads show up with their restraint collars and shove you into one of those black body bags," he said as he lowered his head and gave Lance a grave look. "They know my powers and they know his," Magneto continued as he gave a look toward Pyro, "and when they see this whole in the floor you have so graciously created, they will know yours," he went on as he looked back to Lance. "Just what do you suppose they will do then? You stayed behind when everyone else ran and then not only that, but you enjoyed a very lengthy conversation with two know mutant terrorists. I imagine they'll have you a nice tent waiting somewhere on Alcatraz Island," he said purposely referring to the now makeshift detainment center located on the site of such a mutant holocaust.

This worried Lance. The last thing he wanted to happen was to labelled publically a mutant. The fact that there was a chance that he could be tagged and forever watched as a possible threat scared him more than he would admit. With all the calm he could muster he decided to listen to whatever Magneto was going to say.
"So, what do you think I should do about it then?"
This seemed like a valid question. Who else knew about hiding and keeping away from the government's eye like Magneto did? Maybe he could go with them... But did he really want to commit himself to something as big as this? He had heard about what happened to the others who followed .... they ended up powerless and locked up. Was that a future Lance really wanted or should he just sneak back to his family farm, a disgrace and a failure?

Magneto had Lance hooked now and he knew it, something was in Lance's favor....and something which wasn't. Magneto was a protector for those of his kind, those who would be persecuted and hunted just because of something that they were, something they couldn't help and something that they shouldn't be worried about trying to fix.
"Well, I really only see one opportunity for you now....Join me and my Brotherhood and I'll give you a fighting chance against those who would want to sweep you away underneath some proverbial rug," Magneto said as he let out a deep breath, his demeanor taking on that sense of authority that the old man just seemed to radiate by shear will alone. "I don't offer you a means of escape Avalanche, only a means of making yourself into something," he said, "What do you say?," he asked with a bit of a confidant look on his face as he waited for Lance's decision.
