Water was one of the most mysterious and powerful forces known to mankind. At a whim, water could kill large amounts of people, but at the same time it is the source of refreshment and the symbol of life. Without it, the Earth would just be a scorched rock floating in the galaxy.
Water also held mysterious properties. Nikkolas found himself gazing into the dark depths of the lake. Being currently free of his mental blocks, the water allowed him to reflect about himself, think about things that he just couldn't do at the moment in his mind. The water acted as a mirror into Nikkolas' soul, the depth which he kept hidden for so long.
He closed his eyes, opening his mind to the environment around him. He took a deep breath and just listened to what was around him. He could sense the fish in the lake, the small gnats that hovered over the surface of the lake; he was letting his mind go free.
A particular bird above caught Nikkolas’ attention. He wasn’t sure what kind of bird it was, but he knew it was a bird of prey. The bird was scanning the lake for a fish to snatch out of the lake. The bird finally noticed a vulnerable fish and attacked it. The aggressive aura that the bird displayed when it caught the fish was felt by Nikkolas. Though it was only a fish that died, and that was the circle of life, a sharp sadness pierced him. He squatted down looking at the water closely now, tears in his eyes. He twirled his finger on the surface of the water, causing a small disturbance.
