Because he isn’t doing anything now and who we were in 2007 doesn’t seem to mean much here. He could be the Brotherhood’s moral compass now for all you know. It is most peculiar that the girl is in his defense and Roger unconsciously ponders the event as he feels the wall fall away from his back. Although the opposite boy returns him to a normal, standing position, Roger regards Josh with wariness, pressing the tips of his fingers into the pad of his thumb. Sorry… I just kind of reacted.
He doesn't trust his smile, and Roger tilts his chin up, a routine habit of childhood defiance.
Really sorry. It’s just hard to remember that everyone’s not who they were back in 2007… Roger knows that much. Everything had changed since then. Josh. We kind of met in New York, but I think you might have been too motion-sick to notice.[/color] Now Roger knows his face; it looks different standing still than spinning in circles. His hooded gaze travels to the extended hand, and quite suddenly he doesn't remember what he's supposed to do while it sits there. Awkwardly, Roger limply brings up a hand, grazing Josh's hand with the back of his knuckles, giving him a brief brush of the fingers in a way that more than implies how he feels about touching him. Inside his head, a subdued reprimanding rages, but Elliot's wasting her energy; Roger had stopped listening to most things outside his secluded wonderland a long time ago.
"Insides and outsides always different and the same..," he mumbles, and like a rock, his hand drops back to his side. Roger steps around Josh, again preoccupied with things he can never change. Approaching the table, Roger collects some of the markers, becoming very choosy with a color before he settles on red. Seemingly unaware of Bobby's organized agenda of the past and present, he starts to doodle on a blank part of the board, retreating into an uncomfortable silence.
