Well...um...part of my mutation is to see other...mutations. It's kind of like strings of color. Yours is dark green, and um...Josh's is blue...and Mr. Coleman's has three different colors...So I see not a single trace of your mutation on Mr. Coleman's genes... Colors? What? Jack shakes off the trouble he's having grasping the idea of people showing up in a variety of shades to Danny, shaking his head and trying to figure out the ordeal. He steps closer,"But.. you're saying that.. he's.. he's okay right? I didn't.. change him or anything?"
"Is this true, Daniel..?" Arthur asks with suppressed elation in his voice, the normal lines in his face smoothing to form new ones of question.
Josh is suddenly up, concerned with Danny's well-being. Jack isn't sure why, he smells no fresh blood. Strangely though, Danny smells like Arthur's blood, the only difference in that Arthur's blood smells weak and iron deficient. The sutures were standard procedure, but Josh looks shocked about something else. What the… Curious, Jack looks over Danny's shoulder and gets a glimpse of perfect skin where the student had before been cut up.
That's weird. Does Danny even have regenerative healing...?

Jack comes up closer and takes up his attention. Danny feels rather lively, and his attention span seems to be shortened quite a bit, but he attributes it to remnants of adrenaline.
>"But.. you're saying that.. he's.. he's okay right? I didn't.. change him or anything?"
"Huh? Oh yeah...well...Look, I've never done anything with your mutation. It's physical so...yeah, that's a taboo. But, if it's any help, I see none of your mutation on Mr. Coleman. It's just not there. I see the telepathy and other stuff, but there's no green on him..." Danny grows more sure with each word, remembering that he never has made a mistake so far with his vision.
>"Is this true, Daniel..?"
"Danny, please," he responds automatically, not even thinking about it, and then responds to the question, "look, I'm no doctor, and I am not some highly experienced mutation-expert or anything. I'm just saying that I cannot see the mutation on you...it might come out later, or might never come out and just do whatever it is that it does anyway...I'm sorry, but I don't think it should be taken as the ultimate word..."
Danny doesn't believe how he ends up saying it so quickly and, well, almost casually. Not because he's happy about it or anything, but it just...comes out like that.
>“What the…”
For a moment, all blood washes away from Danny's face. The resident medic is probably not the best person to be issuing those words, and an image of a funeral is already playing off in his freshly quickened-in-conclusions mind.
"What!? Is something wrong? What's wrong?" he asks immediately, and he stares at Josh with the expression of a death row prisoner.

> "No, I’m cool. Don’t worry about me…"
> "What!? Is something wrong? What's wrong?"
Josh looks elated for a moment, but then becomes lost in thought. I knew it. Hector has some kind of regenerative or healing power. And, apparently, can animate dead skeletons. Josh shakes his head. The two didn’t really connect in his mind, seeing as the skeletons definitely weren’t alive, at least in the traditional sense. “One effect of your mutation must be some form of healing, like Logan.” Josh hopes desperately that healing factor and asshattery have no genetic linkage.
He’s still holding Danny’s arm “Danny, look. All your wounds have healed. I sutured them like 5 minutes ago.” Josh looks closely at where the wounds were. “They’ve completely closed around the sutures, too. Don’t worry, they’ll absorb into your body in a week or two.”
Josh reaches into his lab coat and pulls out a another pair of wrapped swabs. “Since you made contact with Hector’s mutation during the fight, you must have copied it for a short while. Certainly, none of us here possess healing ability. But… if I’m not mistaken from training sessions, you can only hold onto someone else’s power for a couple minutes. So... what’s going on here?” This last is more to himself than anyone. “DNA sample, please.” He proffers the second one in Hector’s direction. “I’d like to try to isolate your mutation sequence. Danny literally copies someone’s mutation, on the base pair level, so you might help us explain what’s going on.”
Josh shows a tentative smile. Hey, things aren’t so bad. “Arthur, if Danny doesn’t see any traces of Jack’s mutation on you, I think you might be clean. Once my tests are done, I should be able to tell you for sure.” He waves at the computer station. “I need to read over everyone’s medical files, too. I haven't had to deal with something like this before.”
He finally turns to Hector. “If you wouldn’t mind staying here for the night, I can drive you home in the morning. But I’ve got a ton of people to check over, tests to start on, and it’s getting late…” Josh arches a brow. “It would also give me a chance to explain some of this.”

Staring blankly into space, Veronica was brought back down when she heard people talking about mutations and healing, most of which she didn't care for. Jamming her hand into her jacket pocket, she pulled out a small pink device, her iPod. holding the earpieces, she slid them into her ears until they were snug and wouldn't move. Pressing a button on the top of the device, she watched as the screen flickered on, flashing a "Hello". Smiling, she closed her eyes once more, slipping back into her half sleep, half awake trance. The music pumping from the iPod soothed her, but managed to wake Charlie up in the process.
The amphibian was now crawling across her lap, trying to find a quieter spot to sleep. Stumbling into an inner pocket of her jacket, he tried to fit himself into it, but only managed to get part of his leg in. Squirming, Charlie managed to fall out and land in between the jacket and the blonde's leg, a dark and comfy spot he actually liked. Retreating into his shell, he was instantly asleep, oblivious to the outside world.

Jack watches as Arthur almost slumps with relief while managing to keep his composure. How the meek teacher managed both was something he would never know. As for Jack, he sighs, feeling almost liberated while Josh looks over Danny and reassures him that there is nothing to be worried about. He smiles to himself, looking expectantly at Arthur. <Sorry. I know I panicked..>
Across the room, Arthur smiles as best as he can manage. <Not at all. You had every reason.>
Since you made contact with Hector’s mutation during the fight, you must have copied it for a short while. Certainly, none of us here possess healing ability. Jack nods knowingly. It was a simple misunderstanding that had became intensified in the heat of the moment. Everything is fine.
If you wouldn’t mind staying here for the night, I can drive you home in the morning. But I’ve got a ton of people to check over, tests to start on, and it’s getting late… It would also give me a chance to explain some of this. That poor kid must be really scared.. Jack gives Hector a side-long glance, feeling like he should apologize for contributing in the scare. Then he remembers how people normally reacted to him after seeing his inner self beforehand. Maybe later.
While Josh talks it out with Hector and Danny, Arthur slowly rises. "Ah.. if I have your clean bill of health, Joshua.. I believe I will retire for the evening. It has been a... trying day." He touches the partially healed wound on his arm. "I am not so lucky as to have regenerative abilities as some others.."
Yeah, really. Some people have all the...
Jack goes white.
Flexing his hands nervously, he looks from Arthur to Danny, and then from Danny to Josh. Arthur's blood..
"....Josh." He says it slowly, carefully, weighing it in his mind. "...I.. have.. regenerative healing."

Hector just sort of stands there, blinking stupidly, while Danny and Jack and Arthur and Josh talk about copying regenerative healing and fast healing and “turning” and wondering just what exactly he’s gotten himself into.
> " If you wouldn’t mind staying here for the night, I can drive you home in the morning. But I’ve got a ton of people to check over, tests to start on, and it’s getting late… It would also give me a chance to explain some of this. "
"What’s to explain? A werewolf, a turtle, and a tank walk into a bar…" He realizes he’s sounding more than a bit hysterical, and tries again. "Um. Well, I… can I call my mom, at least?"

> "Ah.. if I have your clean bill of health, Joshua.. I believe I will retire for the evening. It has been a... trying day."
Josh nods. “Yeah, I think you should be fine. I’ll let you know about how the tests go, but don’t keep yourself up over this – it’s more to rule the possibility out at this point.”
> "....Josh. ...I.. have.. regenerative healing."
“You… you do?” Josh looks blankly over at Jack. Hmm… he is one of those that never need medical attention after a mission, isn’t he? “Well, I don’t really know what to say. You and Danny never came in contact during the mission, so I can’t possibly see how there would be any contamination. Danny might be unconsciously copying your power? He had to have gotten the regenerative ability from one of you two. But why’s it hanging around for so long…?” His experience was that Danny usually had the mental fortitude to use others’ powers for a few minutes. It’d been hours. I need Hector’s mutation for comparison.
> "What’s to explain? A werewolf, a turtle, and a tank walk into a bar… […] Um. Well, I… can I call my mom, at least?"
Man… at least he hasn’t passed out or something yet. This is all a bit much even when we’re not playing ‘Guess Who’. “Sorry, Hector. I know this is all bewildering right now. It’s just… I’m still learning about all of this stuff. I wish… I wish Dr. Grey was here. She could do this in her sleep.” Josh steps forward with the sample swab and pats the boy on the shoulder. He hands it to Hector. "I do need to take a look at your mutation sequence, though.” Josh glances over at the lab station. The phone undocks from its charger and hovers over to Hector.
“I’d prefer it if you try to minimize the details about the school. You know… trade secrets. If you’d like me to talk with her tomorrow I can do that.” Josh folds his arms and glances over at Danny. “So… you’ve got someone’s powers right now. After I’ve isolated Hector’s x-gene, I should be able to tell you whose.” He takes a step from Hector, over to the lab station, and starts keying commands into the terminal there.

But… if I’m not mistaken from training sessions, you can only hold onto someone else’s power for a couple minutes. So... what’s going on here?”
Danny tries to shrug, but it doesn't quite work out, because he's slightly worried. "I can't hold on to mutations...and I copied Hector's only for a short while, and then I had to make sure to fully break the contact before I could cancel it..." he explains, looking at the places where the wounds were a few seconds ago.
Still, he cannot help but feel a slight bit of pride for being able to diagnose Mr. Coleman safe from being turned by Mr. Russell. It is a contribution to the problem, and he finally gets the impression of being useful (accidentally forgetting that he has stopped the dinosaurs, or perhaps attributing the word "failure" to that because the museum was still decimated and he passed out, making the evacuation harder).
>"...I.. have.. regenerative healing."
Oh, he does? I didn't know that. I guess it comes with the- WHAT!? Danny's mind has to kick itself into gear, finally coming to the conclusion that he might just be having something to do with Mr. Russell. But...I'm not all...hairy, and quadrupedal and man-eat-y, am I?
Hector and Josh talk a bit, in which the younger boy displays obvious signs of not being quite as calm and collected as he was when he started the field trip, and so Danny is left temporarily in the sidelines, which he does not mind all that much. He's feeling very sorry for being the cause of troubles for Josh, and possibly unwanted stress for Mr. Russell.
>“Well, I don’t really know what to say. You and Danny never came in contact during the mission, so I can’t possibly see how there would be any contamination. Danny might be unconsciously copying your power? He had to have gotten the regenerative ability from one of you two. But why’s it hanging around for so long…?”
Danny looks at Josh, waving his head no. He knows how it works, and there's no possible way he wouldn't be feeling the mutation. He's certain of it. "Josh, I can't...I mean, I never have copied anyone subconsciously, and even if I did, there would still be the glow...there's no glow, and I'm not feeling any mutations on me...I usually have a sort of...er...feeling like I'm sending a part of me to touch a part of the target...I feel perfectly normal...just a bit...hyper..." he explains, his feet, which are dangling vigorously off the edge of the bed, proving his point. He's never had issues with hyperactivity before.
>“So… you’ve got someone’s powers right now. After I’ve isolated Hector’s x-gene, I should be able to tell you whose.”
"If I copied Mr. Russell, wouldn't I be all...you know...wolfish? I man, selective copying? That's a bit out of reach...if even possible. And then there's...er...I'm not hyper any more..." his voice visibly slows down, and his feet become steady once more. He is not fidgeting anymore, and there's a definite lack of that extra-energy feeling.
"I guess whatever it is it stopped..." he says, shrugging lightly, looking over at Hector. "Maybe Hector was just...you know...using his power by accident? I don't know, there's no way I could hav-" he stops as his stomach goes off in pains, as if claiming starvation.
"I feel weird..." he gasps just as a string of pain shoots through his body and he yelps in surprise as much as in response to the pain.
For a moment, he feels the sort of annoying pains in his entire body that are usually attributed to "growing pains," and then agony shoots all over him, making him fall over onto the floor and convulse fiercely.
Danny manages a few short gasps and then it feels like all bones in his body are breaking, or expanding, or contracting at once, and his vision blurs to shades of red as his eyes go wide from the pains he'd never imagined possible.
His body starts changing, and bones and organs begin to adapt to a new shape, all the while sending ripples of what is surpassing the limits of agony to his mind, which seems to be getting heavier and heavier on the thought processing. His arms and legs seem shorten, and his torso just feels like it's changing, and his face seems to get longer.
There's pure red in front of his eyes for a while, and the pain makes him howl, making him angry, mad, furious. When he opens his eyes, the world is different. He can see more than he used to, and it's higher up, but all of these don't quite reach the point of being called conclusions.
Turned into a huge wolf, Daniel growls, enraged by the pain he felt, looking about him, sniffing the humans, and then sniffing another, one like him. He turns to the creature, slightly confused to see a man there, but he doesn't care. He is pissed, and somehow he is under the impression that it is this creature's fault. Letting out a deep growl, he opens his jaws and pounces towards the man, murder the only thing on his barely conscious mind.
KILL!

>"What’s to explain? A werewolf, a turtle, and a tank walk into a bar" Not quite sure what he's talking about, Veronica pauses her iPod and opens her eyes, the world somewhat blurry to her now. Shaking the sleep from her, she leaned up abit, and oepned her motuh to speak."Charrlie issa....A..He is a tortoise!" she said, her voice coming out slurred, almost as if she was drunk. truth be told, she managed to down a few bottles at the museum. She found "sovenir" beers in the gift shop, and bought them for herself. Letting out a small moan, she glanced over at Daniel to see him morph into his dog state.
"Awww, look at the cayoote puppy-man!" she squealed, her voice more high pitched than earlier. Yawning, she allowed her head to fall back, colliding with the wall, causing her to flinch."Haha, that tickled.." she murmered, already half back alseep."G'night, Charl--" her goodbye was cut off by her suddenly dozing off to sleep, which was not the best thing to be doing when there was a werewolf in the room. Snuggling deepere into her jacket, the blonde managed to pull the jacket over her, keeping the light from reaching her eyes.
Wiggling under the jacket, she managed to find her iPod and turn it back on, smiling, if you could call it that, when she heard the music flow freely once more from the earphones. Hanging them back in her ear, Veronica was now unaware of any sounds going on outside, and soon slipped into her slumber once more.

(hope no one minds me going again so fast - I was inspired.)
> "Josh, I can't...I mean, I never have copied anyone subconsciously, and even if I did, there would still be the glow...there's no glow, and I'm not feeling any mutations on me...I usually have a sort of...er...feeling like I'm sending a part of me to touch a part of the target...I feel perfectly normal...just a bit...hyper..."
Josh shrugs a little. “Maybe you’re just maturing, Danny. I used to break a sweat lifting a chair, but now I can do stuff like throw cars and keep buildings from collapsing. Stuff does change as you get stronger. I mean… you have to admit, lighting up like a Christmas tree when your powers are active isn’t exactly evolutionarily sound.” He taps a few commands into the lab terminal. “Nevertheless, I’ll be running tests to make sure nothing weird is going on.”
> "Maybe Hector was just...you know...using his power by accident? I don't know, there's no way I could hav-"
He eyes Hector, and then looks back to Danny. “It’s possible. But we haven’t confirmed that Hector’s mutation works on anyone but himself.” Josh walks over to pat Danny on the shoulder comfortingly. “Don’t worry, we’ll figure this out.”
> "I feel weird..."
When Danny doubles over and falls off the exam table, Josh realizes things are a little more serious than he’d thought. His immediate reaction is that Danny is having some kind of seizure, so he tentatively reaches out with his telepathy for confirmation, crouching over the twitching boy. Instead of the electrical storm he expects, Danny’s amicable mental sense is rapidly receding, and being replaced by a primal hunger. Josh snaps his eyes open. “Not a seizure - What the hell -”
As Danny’s physical structure begins changing Josh abruptly gets it, and staggers back. “Oh, god… he’s…” His voice is a mix of fear and pity. “Everyone, get back!” Josh draws an arm out and pushes Hector behind him.
Hector, stay behind me. Don’t get near him. Josh’s mental voice is even, but terse.
When Danny leaps, Josh throws up a telekinetic shield in front of the two of them, but the boy is gunning for Jack instead. “Jack, look out!”
Arthur, Hector – Josh belatedly catches sight of Veronica in the corner –and Veronica, I need to get them out of here. Jack was relatively safe, but any of the four of them could be bitten by Danny. If I can get everyone across the room and into the MRI suite, I can lock us in. The open door looked miles away, thanks to the carnage.

> " Sorry, Hector. I know this is all bewildering right now. It’s just… I’m still learning about all of this stuff. I wish… I wish Dr. Grey was here. She could do this in her sleep. " Hector is not exactly reassured by this confession. Bad enough that he has no idea what’s going on; he’d sorta been counting on Josh to know the score He remembers vaguely from some TV special that these mutants were fond of codenames, like comic-book superheroes, and tries to envision what kinds of abilities someone with the codename “Dr. Grey” would have. Create fog, maybe. Remove people’s color vision. Really, he has no idea. > " I do need to take a look at your mutation sequence, though " Which doesn’t sound entirely promising either. " Um. Sorry, I must have left it in my other pants… I’ll, um, go home and get it for you?" He chuckles, not entirely convincingly. " Um. Anyway. Who’s Dr. Grey? Why can’t we wait for her? Is it gonna -- " he cuts off the stream of nervous questions as the phone floats over to him in a decidedly creepy fashion. " Um. Right. Thanks." > " I’d prefer it if you try to minimize the details about the school. You know… trade secrets. If you’d like me to talk with her tomorrow I can do that." Hector tries to decide how his mom would react to being told he’s spending the night having his ‘mutation sequence’, whatever that is, examined by a strange gay mutant in his exceedingly well-appointed laboratory, and has to agree that “minimizing details” is probably the best way to go. " Um… yeah. Mom’s pretty cool for a mom, but… maybe not everything at once, would be good. " [/i] " Well… let’s see how this goes." He dials his home number on the phone and waits a few minutes, then starts talking in Spanish. " Oye, mami, soy yo. Estoy --. He rolls his eyes and holds the phone a little further from his ear, as screaming can be heard faintly from the other side. " No, no, estoy -. " Mami, por favor escucha-.Distracted by the one-sided conversation with his mother, Hector fails to notice Danny’s transformation until the growling starts. What the? " Gaaaah! He drops the phone on the floor, his mother’s increasingly anxious voice radiating from it, > Hector, stay behind me. Don’t get near him. Hector’s growing more confused by the second when the voice appears in his head – stay behind who – but is all over that last part. Ignoring the phone, he backpedals frantically away from the second werewolf.

You and Danny never came in contact during the mission, so I can’t possibly see how there would be any contamination. Jack opens his mouth and abruptly shuts it, his jaw setting firmly into place. Nervously he swallows, eyeing Danny, watching as the student notes a random influx of energy. Despite Jack's acute worry on the possibilities, Josh doesn't seem as convinced that the worst is yet to come. Don’t worry, we’ll figure this out.
And then Danny doubles over, tension surging through his body as he falls to the floor, writhing. His breath comes out in gasps, ragged from the tremors harrowing his body like a demon in a man possessed. Splintering and cracking reverberate in the sterile room, and Jack staggers back--stunned. Fear swells in his heart, and suddenly he can't speak. It's as if he's standing outside and peering in.
Oh, god… he’s…
With every passing second Danny is disappearing into the clutches of something that is unknown to him, and the beast replacing him takes shape. The torture already starting to dwindle, the creature that was once Danny opens its eyes, giving a low growl as it surveys the room.
They both lock gazes.
Red eyes gleaming, it leaps towards him, jaws parted and exposing rows of razor-edged teeth. Jack, look out! Josh's voice comes from very far away and Jack's body feels rooted to the floor, watching as a version of himself comes upon him. Danny's new weight slams into him, and Jack is plowed to the floor, skidding across the tiles. The terror surging in his heart is rekindled with fury, and Jack snarls. Fur burgeons from his every pore and suddenly they look the same.
Surging his hips up, Jack worms a knee in between them and jerks it up into Danny's chest, wrenching an arm free and grasping for his throat.

Josh slaps the lock, sealing the medical lab off from the rest of Institute. Gotta protect the rest of the kids...
As Jack and Danny roll around the floor in werewolf glory, Josh eyes the phone, which is squawking loudly. This would be funny if it wasn’t so incredibly dire. He concentrates briefly on the phone, and it snaps into his hand.
“Mrs. Vidal, this is um… Dr... Logan at the Westchester Regional Medical Center.” Josh winces. Get her off the phone fast, repair damage later. “I’m afraid that Hector was involved as a witness in an incident today at the Museum of Natural History. He is perfectly fine, but the police are here questioning all the witnesses. It will be some time before he’ll be released from their custody. Good day, ma’am. I’ll be in touch.” Josh’s meager Spanish ability tells him that Mrs. Vidal isn’t exactly thrilled at the moment. He presses the phone’s off button and drops it on the counter. Arthur!
Josh sees Arthur backing up across the room, shaking slowly. He can’t see! Damn it... Josh bites his lip. Wait… Arthur is a telepath.
The mental connection between them is established instantaneously. With two telepaths, words are hardly necessary, but Josh projects his voice nonetheless:
Arthur… I can see. Let me help guide you…
He begins dumping all sensory input from his visual system directly into Arthur’s mind. It’s almost effortless, which Josh puts down to the telepath-telepath link. Since Arthur would be perceiving Josh's own visual field, he guessed that it would be slightly awkward, but definitely better than nothing.
Get into the MRI suite and I’ll trigger the door. Josh ducks behind the defibrillator cart as Danny and Jack knock equipment in his direction. “Veronica, Hector, get into the next room. Don’t let Danny bite you!”
Josh stabs a hand across the room at a nondescript cabinet. The door is yanked off the hinges, and a syringe and ampoule fly out. The syringe pierces the ampoule in midair. It hovers on the edge of the battle, angling for an opening.
Josh shields himself with a hand, stopping flying glassware. Damn. The ferocity of the battle scared him. If I can hit Danny with the tranquilizer… By Jack’s own request, they kept tranquilizers strong enough to knock out elephants and other large mammals on hand… just in case.

He struggles with the creature with a different scent, growling and snapping his jaws in an attempt to kill, but it doesn't work. A hand grabs out for his throat, and he moves his jaw, trying to bite it, bouncing off the man with a growl and getting ready to pounce again.
Then he noticed the other people in the room. He looks around, sniffing them out. There's an annoying little thing flying in the air, but he pays no mind it as he sees the boy, as well as hearing him scream.
He makes a run for the man he'd just been struggling with, but then takes a turn and pouncing onto the boy, again with the same intent as before-- murder. His mind is completely clouded and he can't really think at all. Only thing that matters is to hurt and kill, because the pain that had been ravaging his body seconds ago must have been caused by them.
He snaps his jaws as he closes in on the boy, trying to bite off any and all parts he can get a hold of. A deep growl is the only thing that can be heard from his throat as he snaps and raves, biting, trying to rend with claws as well, though not as effectively.
Danny's presence anywhere near the mind of the beast is completely invisible, if it even exists. The beast, enraged from pains, aims to kill, and it deemed the boy as the easiest target.
No mercy is shown.

>“Veronica, Hector, get into the next room. Don’t let Danny bite you!” Hearing Josh's voice above the others, Veronica began to stir, but not enough to be fully awake."No mom..I don't want any pancakes this--" a yawn escaped her mouth and she slowly sat up, looking at the fight going on between Danny and Jack. Her blue eyes were glazed over, and simply stared at the two men fighting.Standing up, Veronica cradled Charlie into her jacket and manvuered her way around the two large beasts, hoping they didn't manage to squash her into a wall.
Sidestepping several people, the blonde made her way over to where everyone else is, sliding down next to Josh, a confused look on her face."Did I..Miss something?" she mumbled, the light smell of alcohol now lingering in the air. Opening her mouth, another yawn came out, bring forth another wave the nosiating smell. Looking down, she checked on Charlie, who seemed unphased by the current events.
"So, what exactly happened?" she inquired, a single blonde eyebrow going up as she glanced over at Josh. From the fighting, being tired, and the alcohol seemed to make everything more confusing than it was. The alcohol was doing the majority of it, but lack of sleep mixed in there somewhere. Groaning, she leaned back and brought a hand to her head, as if to soothe an oncoming headache."I don't feel too good, Joshie..." she managed to mumble out, reaching behind her for some sort of trash can. Turning her head quickly, she felt the contents of her stomach rush out, quickly filling up the container. The smell of salad and ice-cream filled the air, mixing with the alcohol to make an intoxicating smell. Yeah, if you can call a trash dump intoxicating as well.
One more heave, which was mainly composed of stomach acid, went into the container before she was done, at which beads of sweat were rolling down the sides of her cheeks, and some of her hair was matted to her forehead.
