>"Actually, Terra, I am one of those people, and they're already helping out. They're working their way in from the periphery now... we just need to get out of their way. Are you ready?"
This bit of information surprises Terra greatly, however a nice person such as Warren who is a Mutant like her was bound to be at that place already.
"No."
Terra simply responds, but hey, a person who just sunk a local mall and killed many innocent lives on accident couldn't dare be expected to be ready for anything in life. The young girl grips Warren's arm tightly, never actually having left the ground before, not even in an airplane.
"Just uh...be careful, m'kay?"
She warns nervously.

Watching intently, Veronica was hoping the girl would actually listen to them, and was grateful when she saw the earth dome crumbling."Glad you didn't try to ,like, kill us or anything." she said with a smile, which then slowly faded as she watched Terra make her way around some of the debris, and then lifting a few pieces up to reveal a crushed mother and a somewhat living baby. At the sight of the babe in the girl's arms, the blonde saddened even more, tears welling up at the corner of her eyes. Leaning in to Warren, Veronica slipped her finger into the baby's hand and watched as it barely, but did, squeeze at the finger.
Holding back tears, the blonde ran her hand over the baby's arms, watching as most of the dust that caked its skin soon fell to the ground."So sweet..." she whispered, her voice the same as it was when she spoke to Terra;Kind, caring, but above all, sweet.Bringing another hand up to her face, she allowed her fingers to dab at the tears, which now left behind small trails through the dust. Sniffling, Veronica stepped back abit and tried her best to look somewhat happy.
>"Uhm, Warren, I believe these people can help out as well. They came looking for me two weeks ago asking me to join their school or something. They have mutant abilities just like us! They could help us both! And that female friend of yours!" Looking up, the female mutant looked at Terra and simply laughed, tears still streaming down her face."Hun', we already are at that school." she explained, taking a few careful steps forward, her head nodding slightly."But thanks for the gesture!" she exclaimed, the sadness suddenly vanished without a trace. Running a finger through her hair, she pulled at small pebbles and rocks that managed to get entangled in her blonde locks, throwing them to the ground.
Watching Warren and Terra link arms, she knew what was coming next. "Oh don't worry, I'll be fine, I think I'm just gonna walk home.." she said, sarcasm leaking from every word."Hey, War, want me to take the baby? I can take it to the store and get it some clothes. Mind if I do?" she asked, a blonde eyebrow going up at the winger-man before he took flight. The thought of a man flying in the air with a baby, and then another person scared her. What happened if, you know, he hit a tree or something, and then the baby fell. Wouldn't be good at all.

Damn….and she liked that mall too. They had this great store where you could customize t-shirts with your own little sayings and images...And now it looked like it was about fifty feet under.
“Well...this should be funner than shootin’ beebees at Warr’s flying practice class.” Toni mutters, stepping out behind Josh, fiddling with her ear piece. People are running around, yelling orders or screaming for help while sirens from ambulances and fire trucks groan in and out.
“Toni Craft. Her body is composed of a superdense iron and her strength is unparalleled.” At the mention of her name, Toni glances toward the fire chief and flashes him a grin, the only smile he’s seen in the last hour.
“If you guys can help us start moving some wreckage, that would be great. Getting things stable enough to start moving in is always the hardest. I’ll let you know if the medics need any help, then.”
“Just show me where to lift, doll.” Interlocking her fingers, she streches her arms forward, feeling her kevlar X-suit straining slightly.
Once they reach the edge of where the mall had been, the three break; Jack wolfing out and heading for the nearest area of the wreckage, Josh following the fire lieutenant. Toni surveys the area for a moment, until a waving paramedic catches her attention.
“You one of those muties?” He asks, wiping his smudged brow on a forearm. Any other time and she would have called him out on the prejudice remark, but Toni lets it slide...for the moment.
“Watch’a need, Mr…” She peers at his sewn on name tag. “Jablonsky?”
“There’s someone trapped down there,” Jablonsky points to what used to be one of the lower level entrances. “The dogs hit on it, but we can’t into the damn place. You got some weird kind of mind powers or somethin’ so we can get in there?”
“No mind powers, no matter how awesome it’d be to make you strip down naked right about now.” Toni rolls her shoulders while waving to the other rescuers to step back. “But I can certainly something about your wee little problem here.”
Squatting, she finds purchase on the largest chunk of rubble and slowly begins to lift. The piece of cement only shifts a bit at first, but with an extra push in her legs, Toni’s able to heave the debris up onto one edge. Fortunately the piece isn’t heavy enough to warrant her armored form, something that might have frightened the workers and the victims. With a shift, her shoulder braces against the slab of rock while the other rescuers work to open a small access-way. Once the path is reasonably clear, one of the paramedics scrambles down on their belly and grabs a hold of the person trapped beneath.
Once the medic has hauled the unconscious and badly bruised woman free of the rubble, Joblonsky gives her the okay and Toni sets the cement back into it’s resting place.
“Not bad,” The paramedic slaps a dirty hand on her shoulder. “For a chick.” Toni lifts an eyebrow.
“Wow, racist and sexist!” She pats his cheek affectionately. “I’m gonna love smashing your face into the ground when this is all over. What’s next?”

(( Sorry for the delay in posting. Catching up… ))> " Are you ready?" > " No. Just uh...be careful, m'kay " Warren would laugh if there were anything remotely funny about the situation. As it is, he’s having trouble just wrapping his brain around the sheer vastness of the current devastation. The deaths, most of all, but also the injuries, the orphans, even the financial cost is more than he can make sense of. Worry about it later. Get her out of here now.Fortunately – though a little disturbingly – Veronica doesn’t seem to have that trouble. She seems downright cheery in fact. > "Hey, War, want me to take the baby? I can take it to the store and get it some clothes. Mind if I do?” ’Take it to the store’ Warren is beginning to wonder if Veronica was somehow deranged by the collapse, but decides it has to be safer than keeping the baby around the walking earthquake. He hands the baby over, adding " Take her to one of the paramedics, make sure she’s OK." Then, careful not to startle the girl and initiate another collapse, Warren takes off into the air with his arm supporting her body. " It’s OK… you’re safe now. We’re going to go somewhere where nobody else will get hurt, and we’ll figure out what to do next."

Terra simply remains silent as Warren takes flight, holding onto him very tightly and attempting her very best not to look down, keeping her eyes shut the entire duration of their flight. The girl had never been away from the ground before, and being this high makes her feel queasy.

It’s pretty obvious from Terra’s reaction that she wasn’t kidding about being an inexperienced flyer… most of his passengers at least take the opportunity to look, a couple of times, before they freeze up. He wonders if she’s managing to keep her power under control, or if it just doesn’t work when she’s not in contact with the ground. " Don’t worry," he says in his most reassuring ‘flight-instructor’ tone of voice. " I’ve never dropped a passenger yet. Just relax." He’s careful to keep an even, level flightpath as he carries her north, towards the undeveloped woods that border the Institute. (( Continues in Tears of the wildwood, endlessly streaming ))

Ok, so maybe asking to take the baby shopping with her was just a tad irresponsible, but hey, she needs new clothes, as does the baby. It's not often she gets to see a baby, but when she does, she can be just alittle ecentric. Opening her arms to embrace the baby, Veronica hugged the infant against her chest, ignoring the fact that dust was getting caked onto her clothes.
>"Take her to one of the paramedics, make sure she’s OK." Upon hearing her intructions, she merely nodded and turned on her heels, heading toward where she last saw one of the ambulances."Can do, War'." With each step, however, the baby would twitch, and eventually it woke from its slumber, a shriek followed shortly afterward. The sudden noise caused Veronica to jump, her body tensing. Now she knew why she didn't handle babies too long, they cried. They cry and cry, and never ever shut up!
Taking smaller, more feeble steps, the blonde hoped the slower movements would calm the child, silencing its wails. Instead, the sudden decrease of movement caused him..Er, her....No, it to wail even more, the blood curdling scream nearly busting out her left ear drum."Balancez-vous au revoir le bebe, sur le haut d'arbre.." The familiar lullably passed from her lips faster than she knew, a mechanism she trained herself to do whenever she babysat for the neighboors. What shocked her even more was that it was in French. Mentally cursing her mother for singing it to them as a child, Veronica managed to hush the infant, long enough for a nearby paramedic to take a look at the baby.
Everything seemed to check out, the pulse was ok, and no internal damage seemed to be done. The only major thing were the small bruises that decorated the alabaster skin. The paramedic, "Dr" Cullen, if she remembered correctly, glanced up at Veronica, his eyes locked on her."Are you kin to this child?" he demanded, his voice impatient. Geez, you'd think they'd be more patient when it came to smaller patients. The question, did catch her off guard. The baby looked nothing her, and vice versa, the only thing they shared was her lushious blonde locks and the small blonde fuzz psoruting from the child's head.
"Uhm, no, sir...We found it in the wreckage. She only survived because her mother took the blunt of the damage..she died." she murmured, anxious to keep the baby calm. An audible sigh caught her attention, and she looked up to see the man pinching the bridge of his nose, his fingertips turning white."Well....I suppose.." he glanced around, checking to see if anyone was watching them."I suppose you'll have to care for her.
Ok, an eighteen year old toating around an infant. Oh yes, she'd blend in with society so well now that no one will even care if she was a mutant."Sir, I can't--""I'm sorry Miss...Whatever your name is. As of now, you are this baby's legal gaurdian. Enjoy." The last part was added with a snicker as she climbed into the ambulance, revving the engine. The sudden sound forced the baby to jump, but thankfully no crying this time. As the vehicle drove away, Veronica glanced down at the baby, who had taken an interest in her ring finger, now nibbling on the tip."Welcome to my family....Bella." she decided, cooing to the baby.
Well, since she couldn't fly with a baby in her arms, she'd have to walk. Turning on her heels, she made her way through the wreckage, weaving in and out of the injured masses.
