Sorry to distract from Primer's little plot, but realizing that the HFC thing was never wrapped up with the disappearance of the others and me, I realized that my little Ghostwriter is still unaffiliated...
...but realize that Alphonse is a potentially dangerous mutant. He could be invaluable to the Brotherhood for infiltration, or another ally with the Institute. But still, as of now he is just another haggard face in the NYC crowd.
So here is what I am thinking, slightly inspired by the upcoming F4(Fantastic 4) movie, where one character causes some sort of event that makes his presence known, (Silver Surfer for them, Alphonse perhaps here), at some public, televised event of some kind, Alphonse loses it for a moment and causes pandemonium. As such, both sides go after him.
But this is just a rough idea that popped into my head for poor little Alphonse.

Hey! Hi! I'd wondered where you disappeared to.
The PC-HFC seems to have died a quiet little death... I blame Emma. (Frost, that is). So reaffiliating Alfie seems like a fine plan.
And sure, doing another up-for-grabs mutant scene would be fun... we did a version of that with Sophia, but seeing as how pretty much every third issue of the 80's X-Man comic used that plot, I don't see why we can't use it repeatedly.
And since the Institute got Sophia, I'd say the BH should get Alfie.
Ruminating about plot -- it would have to be something that got Alfie riled up, since he can pretty much escape whenever he wants to. Does he have any major grudges he wants settled, or anything like that?

Hm...Lets see, who would seriously piss off an Italian Immigrant in New York.....
....
A resident Italian Mob boss, who despite good public relations and having a good reputation that the masses know of, is yet another of quite a few powerful mob bosses who had come to America from Europe a few years ago. Now then, while Alphonse was living on the streets of Rome, he had been harassed a few times...the worst, by the said mob boss back when he was just a thug. A number of times, Alphonse was beaten, and robbed of his begging money. Now, several years later in a different continent, during, lets say, the opening of a new government-sanctioned building. As an honory guest to cut the ribbon, is the Mob Boss, Giovanni Vespucci.
Now, say Alphonse is wandering, and notices good 'ol Giovanni, living it up thus making all of those beatings for nothing. Can somebody say: Revenge?
That sound like a good enough motive?

That could definitely work. Or, if we want to use yet more of the lovely Rahne's ideas (I'll come up with my own soon. I will. Just you wait. Naked Thursdays! Yesss...) we could expound on the jailbreak idea. By now I'm assuming the police have made some changes to protocol to deal with this "mutant threat" especially after the Times Square madness in Riot. I'm also going to say they'd put known mutants, no matter what their crime, in a special facility when they're arrested for any sort of crime instead of released into a normal jail. This jail would be for mutants regardless of the crime they committed- murder, assault... petty theft (dingdingding Alphonse). Now with his mutation being phasing it could be hard to justify his captivity unless he was seen committing the crime and phasing to do it and the police managed to sedate him (a la those nifty X2 tranquilizer darts if he didn't see them coming). Once that happened they'd probably keep him permanently sedated in prison until his sentence was up. The Brotherhood stages a jailbreak for as many prisoners as possible, both because humans have "no right" to lock up any homo superior for any reason and because...damn... imagine a prison being emptied into NYC. Chaos, panic, government and police distracted. Add to that it being a mutant prison? Score for the Brotherhood. It would also give the X-men something to do trying to clean up the mess. Anyway, the end result for Alphonse would probably be deciding to join up with his rescuers and becoming a Brotherhood member.
Of course you get veto power on this since he's your character sirrah.

We could combine the two, actually, as follows:
1) Mob Boss Vespucci, having been tripped up by law enforcement somehow or other, has recently been arrested for something.
2) This was major news, and therefore on television, where Alf the sacred river ran through caverns measureless to man saw and recognized his face. "Aha! Prison! I know where that is!" he thinks.
3) The police, knowing that Vespucci has all kinds of powerful agents and money to hire mercenaries and stuff, puts him in their Maximum Security Prison -- where, unsurprisingly, is also where they put their mutants. (At least the ones they don't stash in Guantanamo Neverland.)
4) The Brotherhood coincidentally stages its breakout of mutant criminals from said Maximum Security prison at the same time.
5) The Annoying X-Men get wind of same and show up to prevent jailbreak... at least, whoever happens to be around.
Which gives us random mutant criminals, police, a mob boss, Alf, and selected X-PCs and BH-PCs all pretty much shooting randomly at each other as a backdrop to Alf's recruitment.
Sound like fun?

Oh, I'm also up for naked Thursdays. But then, I think my chars are naked far more often than anybody else on the site anyway, so maybe I'm not the guy to ask.

Hmm....or some combination of all three plots:
In the maximum-security prison where both the mutants and infamous mob boss Giovanni are waiting, the Brotherhood is staging a full out jailbreak while naturally the X-Men go in to attempt to stop it while, admist all of the chaos, Alphonse goes in to get revenge, and interacts with both parties in various ways, (Such as running from the X-Men who think he is an escapee, or from the Brotherhood who might beleive he is is with the X-Men or want him to escape), before getting down to the cell where Giovanni is, which coincidentally is near one of the main supporting columns for the prison is, does his extreme gravity thing, accidently demolishes prison thus leaving him standing there admist the rubble, with every camera crew who had been filming looking at the mutant who had caused the big finale, before he runs thus making him a target for both parties.
Sound Okay?

before he runs thus making him a target for both parties.
Does that actually result in his being recruited somehow? Or are you thinking Alf stays unaffiliated afterwards?

Yes, it would make it fairly interesting because:
1. The institute would want to catch him if anything to help him control his powers and help mankind and keep from hurting many people
and
2. The Brotherhood would want someone with that sort of power.
But yeah, he's going to choose one or the other.

Okay, seeing how the Brotherhood bit is going, I think its time to go through with this. Out of curiosity, would there be some sort of temporary sub-board for the event or what?

So, if I understand correctly, the plan is two simultaneous activities: 1) Brotherhood stages breakout from the Maximum Security Prison; 2) Alf breaks in to deal with Mafia Guy.
Both threads end when Alf destroys the prison, semi-accidentally. We may spin off additional threads at that point with various attempts to chase down Alf.
Is that right?
If so, I'd say it depends on how many PCs are going to be involved. If it's a small group, I'd say we can just do two threads, in which case a separate folder probably isn't needed.
So... roll-call? Rahne will of course be following Primer. If there's an Institute group charging in to be superheroes about the whole thing Bob will get involved.

Yup, that's kinda the way I envisioned it. So, going with rol call, Alphonse and probably Tobias if the Institute group goes in.

Actually, I'm willing to do this with Bob and Toby even if nobody else shows... it'll be a good opportunity for them to "meet". So count Bob in.
