So.. I was sitting around and trying to think of something for Arthur to do, since combat of any kind for him is out. Then I had an idea.
What better sense would it make for a man with a major in English to teach foreign students English, eh? Of course I'd most likely just be using NPCs, or just one. But he'd have to show them around and be slightly responsible for them.
...hahaha. (:
Of course any other students struggling with their English would be welcome too.
So yay or nay?

Er... not sure why you're asking, exactly? Go for it, if you want.
Incidentally, it also occurs to me that Arthur could easily be just about the world's best detective, given the whole psychometry/empathy angle.

You know how I am. I like to check on these things. xD I know, he really could. Hell.. he could be a lot of things if he weren't so passive. ..he probably would have been a buttload of help during the Fate of Magneto. If Arthur's powers were well-known knowledge, he could easily be a good factor for the betterment of mutants everywhere for acceptance if his help were enlisted. It's pretty hard to leave any room for speculation with his powers.

(nods) Or the government tries to, and he resists being a government agent, if that's more his style.
Also he could get caught up in some private detective drama. His brother becomes the prime suspect for a murder; arthur knows someone else did it but needs to find proof he can use in court... some woman who reminds him of jennifer needs help finding her kidnapped son who turns out to be recruited by a dangerous cult... etc. etc. etc.
And then there's all the pure-psychometry mileage -- watch a few episodes of the Dead Zone some time for ideas. He finds a discarded gun that he knows was used by a mass murderer who he feels compelled to find and stop... the guy in front of him at the supermarket is planning to kill himself later that day if he doesn't get involved... etc. etc. etc.
These are all cliche plots, of course; my point is Arthur has plenty of points of entry into plots (including plots he can drag other PCs along into) if you want him to do plot-type stuff.
Not to mention getting him involved in random social exchanges around the Institute. Granted, Arthur shares with Roger a tendency to get so self-involved and isolated that scenes become synchronized monologs, but still, it would get him out there.

How did I miss this reply? Must've been some pre-vacation and friend's 18th birthday craziness. Anywho.
YES. I like those ideas. Just to kind of bust out some Arthur appreciation.. or.. Arthur activity. -wiggles fingers- I feel an idea coming on. He just needs something to do apart from twiddling his thumbs and feeling useless when combat is involved is all.
But detective work is something that's promising, and that would definitely put good word in for mutants if he dedicated his time and skills to it. He's very inclined not to refuse anything asked of him, so if the goverment approaches him.. chances are he'll do whatever he's asked to. I like the murder idea with his brother though, not only would that be fun but it would have some good brotherly angst and conflict. YAY. I'll think on that and try to get some ideas down when I come home this weekend.
"Granted, Arthur shares with Roger a tendency to get so self-involved and isolated that scenes become synchronized monologs" Heheh. Yeeah. Arthur and Roger... and Will are not the most social of creatures. I think I may need to add a social butterfly to the mix to keep me sane.
