Name:
Sherridan Kaine
Codename:
Ferus
Age:
23
Mutation:
Sherridan's mutation is a mainly physical one. Namely, he has all the abilities of all cats existent. Whatever a cat can do, be it a domestic or type of wild cat, he can do it same, or better. In example, he can run about half the speed of a Cheetah on two legs, but about the same speed when on all fours. Or, in the same way that cats can climb almost anything, Sherridan is able to climb actually anything, thanks to the fact that his claws are much sharper than those of a normal cat, which allows him to either use them to make small holes in the surface which he is climbing, or pick out the finest of holes already existent. Through hard training, he has managed to even hold himself on the ceiling of a room for about an hour.
His night-vision is perfect, and his best senses are hearing and sight. The reflexes of a cat have not failed him, and his speed in reaction is the same as any other cat's compared to a normal human. Another thing is the extreme amount of grace and agility he possesses.
His tail has mutated even further, and it is not so long that, if cut off and straightened, it would come to his chest. Allot of strength is found in it, and Sherridan finds himself able to lift an average human easily with it.
In short, Sherridan is a terrific outcome of all cats combined to make a humanoid.
This mutation comes with flaws, naturally. He has the wild obsession of having to chase, or at least identify each and every single source of noise, and dangling things just drive him nuts. Being scratched under his neck gives him much more joy than any normal human could possibly receive (and for this reason he never lets anyone touch him there). He is temperamental, and has mood swings, as well as little sense of loyalty. Dogs, wolves, and mutants with the mutations of these animals are on the top of his blacklist, whether they're on his side or not. Sherridan's sense of taste is not very acute, however, and he can just barely tell the difference between anything that isn't meat. As for the sense of smell, it does not even exist, which is a bit of an extreme down side for him.
Physical Description:
His mutation of course leads to the conclusion that he looks quite different from other people. He is covered in fur, which he has learned to change the color of. It is always short, however, and it indeed covers all of his body, including the face, even though he shaves it off every day. His favorite patterns are a regular house cat's fur, and white and normal tiger furs. A tail is naturally present, as well as retractable claws, and his mouth is filled with sharp fangs. His eyes are icy blue, but the shape of cat's eyes, and they allow him to see perfectly in the dark. His ears are pointy, and everything about him seems to radiate grace.
Still, his hair is not part of the mutation, and it is a golden blond color, and he keeps it at shoulder length. Naturally, everything else about him is human, such as normal hand structure, normal body stance, walking on two legs, etc. His body is extremely well-built, and he is 6'5" tall.
His choice of clothing varies, depending on which layer of society he is communing with at the moment. So, when he is around businesspeople, snotty rich kids, and other "noble" people, he wears an expensive suit, and his tail is tucked either in the pants, or under the shirt. He never hides his mutation, though, but keeps his tail hidden purely because of the way he was raised to be a gentleman ("No one wants to see anything hanging out of one's lower areas" as his mother liked to put it).
When hanging around in the "lower class" people, that is, with those who actually do something for a living and know what hard work is, as well as with those who are at the very bottom of the social pyramid, he wears a pair of dark jeans which always have a hole made just big enough for his long tail to fit through, a black tank top, and always some type of decoration, usually in the form of either earrings or chains. In these cases, he walks the way he prefers to, bare-footed, which allows him to climb allot better, run allot faster, and identify what he is standing on allot better (although the last isn't always a good thing, considering all factors of New York City).
Personality:
Wild. Untamed. Self-sufficient. Smart. Educated. Vengeful. Wrathful. Unpredictable. Rich.
These are the words that best describe the 23 year-old's personality. He has always been a gifted child, although not above the normal amount of extra talent humans can have (save for PE, of course), and he has received a very good schooling thanks to the fact that his family is stinking rich. However, the mutation in him has caused him to be quite unpredictable, and wild in many cases. No one has ever managed to really follow him in his lifestyle of a hard-headed, hot-tempered, party-loving, educated, and over all wild young rebel.
He does things mainly by impulse, on a whim. If he decides to go to Greece for no obvious reason, he does that. If he wants to go out, have a blast and get dead drunk in the middle of a serious business meeting, he does that. The one and only thing he truly cares about is Sherridan Kaine, and that's it. He does, however, hope to find one more thing of the same importance, naturally of the female persuasion.
Raised to be a gentleman, Sherridan does behave like one, but only where he needs to. And even though he is hot-tempered, vengeance and battles are the two things he does with extreme care, always planning, plotting, scheming the demise of his enemies. His eyes are like two huge ice blocks, showing no emotion whatsoever, except for hatred towards humans who think bad of mutants (a.k.a. most of the world).
He does not react well (or sometimes at all) to orders, but he does accept having partners. The only type of person who could ever give him orders without a problem is either someone who could easily defeat him, or someone whom he holds respect for. The list of those whom he respects is extremely short- it comes down to Magneto, whose actions up until M-Day, and then those speculated to be his a few months thereafter have truly impressed, inspired, and amazed the young man in want of a place to belong to.
Background:
The Kaine's have always been a stinking wealthy family, and the parents of young Sherridan have given their best to give their son a perfect life, despite his mutation, which had shown it's effects at the early age of 7. As if being guided by irony, they gave their one and only child the name Sherridan, which is one of many versions of the Irish/Gaelic "Sheridan", meaning "untamed".
Mr. Kaine and his wife were very sound and dedicated fighters for the rights of mutants, and even though they were only humans, they did everything they could to help out mutants, who were still being largely rejected. This was quite allot, actually, thanks to the enormous amount of money and good contacts they have had. They had many enemies, found in the hearts of those who hated everything different than them, but those were all nonexistent worries for their young son, who kept growing in a false, hopeless veil of peace and ignorance, which was doomed to implode one day.
And so, on his 16th birthday, when he came home at 4AM, Sherridan didn't find his parents anywhere in the large mansion. Thinking that they have gone to work early, he sat in an armchair, can of Coke in left hand, and turned on the TV. Something drew his attention in a quick moment that was used to switch from the news to "Animal Planet", so he switched back.
The reporter was standing in front of a burning pile of something that might have been a limo before it was blown up into pieces. She went on with her report. "...said that they cannot give a statement at the present moment. Interrogating a lower rank officer, however, gave us the answers we have been looking for. The limo which lies in pieces behind me belonged to the Kaine family, and within it, three corpses were found. On the front seat the driver Joseph Smith, and on the back seat the two brave fighters for the rights of mutants, Mister John Kaine and his wife Margaret Kaine. The police..."
From this moment on, Sherridan has sworn never to make the same mistake as his parents did. Humans could obviously not be reasoned with through sheer talk and diplomatics, so he was going to do it the other way. He started taking over his parents' businesses once he was 17, and he always appeared nicely dressed, but he also made clear that he was a mutant, that he was proud of it, and that it was extremely dangerous to say anything offensive. Soon enough, all of his partners became people who got used to the fact of having mutants in the world, all others, including liars, being fired or surgically removed from the boy's social circle.
Now he remains an extremely wealthy individual, but resents using that money, and prefers doing things the "right way", or by hand and by himself. He resorts to the money only for his nightly crusades around the city in pursuit of those who discriminate mutants. Those people are rarely seen again after he picks them. All of the clothes he owns, food he eats, and rooms he rents come from various jobs he got in the city while refusing to use the resources his family has so generously left him.
In time, he chose to go by the nickname of Ferus, which in Latin means fierce, wild, savage, untamed, much as his own name does.
Current Affiliation
Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, although I would like to start him unaffiliated, and then add him to the 'hood in the first thread with him.
Sample:
Night, full moon. The best time for hunt. Sherridan Kaine is in his bed, sleeping. This is the answer one would get from those who know the hard working, nice boy who lives down the street. Those few who know the real Sherridan Kaine, also know that he is now Ferus, vigilante, dressed in black, covered in white tiger fur, and looking at six thugs who are getting ready to stab him to death.
He laughs, jumps across the sufficiently large area between him and the rest, and his front claws (yes, he refers to them as front claws, even though they're on his hands, and there is no second pair of feet on his body) dig deep into the flesh of one thug's chest. A scream starts but is stopped immediately by two claws drawing a thick red line across his throat.
Before the other manage to get a hold of what's going on, Ferus jumps to his second victim, and slits its throat as well, his long tail knocking the dagger out of another thug's hand at the same time. Two down, four to go.
Two more attack at the same time, but they cannot match the speed and reflexes of a cat, and they soon find themselves with four holes in each one's neck. The last two start to run, screaming, but they do not get far before one is killed by a dagger in his back, and the other is hanged and choked by a long tail.
Sherridan Kaine cleans himself up, gets dressed in a very expensive-looking suit, matching shoes, and combs his hair and sets off for a business meeting that is to start in a couple of hours.
P.S.
If there are some things that don't go together (such as two different, yet similar nicknames appearing), I'm sorry and I will correct them gladly if the need be, but can't check my writing right now as I'm ubertired. Thank You.
