Name:
Madge Adam McCormick
Codename:
shrimp Energizer or Alkali
Age:
twenty8
Mutation:
It was around Madge's sixteenth birthday that she learned that not only was she the only daughter of a family of five children, but she could also ooze energizing acid. Well, at first the acid was simply.. acid, and it lead to many an interesting accident with her brothers. On countless occasions she’d take her clothes from the closet and end up with a gaping hole where acid oozed through the fibres. Over years of help with her brothers and her father, Madge learned to control her acid generation considerably. It was only after 10 years at Xavier’s institute that shee really did control it so that instead of spurting ooze suddenly, she could choose when acid would seep through her pores, or her hands, or any other orifice. Yet, not only that, she similarly learned to be able to generate the power of the acid into many different things.
Her acid can come in many different forms. Firstly, her regular acid can be controlled into acid under the spectrum of acid power. It can either be strong enough to burn through flesh and metal, or as gentle as lemon juice. Next, she’s learned to create energizing acid which can be used to fuel electronics or machines. It’s good to keep in mind the energizing bunny when considering her energizing acid. Her acid can either be too strong to handle besides herself, or it can be gentle enough for any chemist to use. Similarly, her acid also be harnessed for a mild control of animation. If she focuses hard enough, she can use her acid to heal someone. Most of the times this sort of acid is used only on herself. If she gets a scrape, her body will generate the acid that covers the wound to heal it over 5x faster than a normal body’s healing power.
Unfortunately though, there are times when Madge doesnt have complete control over her acid. It most often happens if she catches a cold. For this reason, she usually goes off into her living space to wait until she recovrs, because she begins to ooze a lot more uncontrollably when sick. Besides when she's under weather, she hasn't had too many other occurances whenher acid surprises her, but she does always have to keep an eye out for anything uncommon with her body.
Physical Description:
At a glance, Madge can be summed up as an unusually pretty young woman. Out of all the women that come out of the institute, she’s most likely the one that everyone questions why in all that is sane and good in this world would such a lovely thing be working as not only a professor, but as one of the more trusted X-men at the institute. She dresses well for her youth, and her profession yet, once a few moments are spent in her presence, something a bit more prominent in her appearances comes to reality. She’s a complete clutz. It’s actually very awkward, while she will be smiling brightly one moment about a compliment that’s paid for her target practice, another she will try and say some sort of line of gratitude and end up stubbing her toe when she offers you her hand to shake. Or worse, she may be hurrying down the hall after being paged and will trip over a rug end and face plant infront of a group of students Yes, it’s really that bad.
Her clumsiness and slightly goofy personality seemed to rub off on how she looks most of the time. While she will always be pieced together well and composed while she’s unmoving and silent, it’s always the furious shade of rouge that will all encompass her face that’s rather astounding. No matter how pretty her laugh and smile may be after she’s recovered, it’s hard not to forget how much she resembles a beet. Because of this, she’s often a bit nervous when around people of authority. No matter how stellar her resume may be or how well prepared for the job she is, she’ll still be bumbling, blushing, and apologizing profusely. Yet, although Madge may always seem clumsy when it comes to work and working with people of authority, when she’s serious, she’s deadly serious. If something serious needs to be taken care of, her body composure will change from clumsy to stoicly intimidating in half a heartbeat.
Surprisingly though, Madge’s gone through work at the institute with a very odd sense of personal fashion. She waves in and out of hair color and style. A year or two ago it was black, then it was long and blond, and now it’s about shoulder length with soft pink undertones on pale blond hair. The pink in its own is neither obnoxious, nor unnoticeable. Yet, she wears her hair not in a rebellious ostentatious manner, but usually in a distinguished pretty way. Bright blue eyes stick out against her pale skin and delicate bone structure all besides her high cheekbones. But, it’s not usually her facial features that draw attention to the opposite sex.. Unfortunately, Madge has spent most of her life being summed up as a ‘babe’. Since she grew up with men, she’s always been around men, and was more a body than a pretty face. She was always active, alwas wrestling, always playing sports and she continues it now. Tomboy is not the correct word since she wears far too pretty clothing to be a tomboy, but she’s damn close.
Personality:
Complexity is the key to keep in mind when struggling to understand Madge McCormick. Growing up with a family of men and a pissed off mother, Madge was never the blossoming little daughter than most expect her to have been. Thus, Madge grew up as the fiery little spitball middle daughter always in the middle of a wrestling match or throwing punches if a little brother was being bullied. At a young age, she learned loyalty and proved it almost daily when she’d run after a bully if they crushed her younget brother’s retainer or if they called her a bitch. Yet, with the fiery loyalty and the ability to surprisingly take care of herself came the very low self esteem when her mother gave her hell for not being the daughter she wanted.
Sure, she was pretty enough.. but if she tucked her hair behind her ear a certain way instead of putting it in a pony tail she’d be so much prettier! Whether it was fights about her hanging out with too many boys, dating too many good looking men who were older than her, or especially her hobby of target practice. Her mother and her fought constantly ending with Madge losing the ability to cry, and more of the ability to turn a bright shade of red. Consequently, she grew even closer to the men in her life- her father, her brothers, and boyfriends. At eighteen, she left the house and traveled to Xavier Institute after receiving a brochure years before.
Men are what leads us to our next part of Madge. She has always, and will always be a man’s woman. She finds them a lot more logical, smart, less petty, and more loyal than almost all women and while friendly with women, she had a bit of a fear for them lest they criticize her more like her mother did. She opens up to men much easier than she does women, and often considers herself more of a guy than she is a girl.. well, except for when it comes to relationships. Sure, she does wear pretty clothes yet still plays football and often wins, but when she is with a man in a relationship she is unusually docile.. only with him though. Had she not latched onto her father after her mother practically disowned her she probably would look more butch than woman. Even now she calls her father atleast twice a week.
Lastly, Madge's odd ability to well.. ooze battery juice.. makes it a bit odd for Madge to keep her mental composure as strudy as other people have. Over the years she has learned to be able to control her acid generation, sure it took a hell of a lot of effort and a lot of apologies on her part, but once she got over burning away people's clothes when she sneezed, she learned that she's still likeable awkward and silly. Usually during her classes Madge'll struggle between being mature and well versed and laughing hysterically over a very well-covered up sexual innuendo in someone's paper. Whether or not she's acting mature or silly, she's considerably approachable to either a colleague or a student. A lot of the times she's a good deal older than her students, but her youthful personality and appearance leads to her amicability.
Madge absolutely adores literature. Unfortunately by the time she was offered a job as a professor at the institute, her choice field of Literature had been taken, and instead she opted for Composition and Journalism. During her years as a student, Madge hardly ever gained anything less than an A grade on her papers. Oddly enough, she would spend so much time working on papers, she hardly ever got her other work done. She was still a good student, but Professor Xavier had noticed her skill at writing and soon offered her the job that she’s been teaching for over three years.
