(Morgie's FOURTH charry. The insanity never ends.)
Name: Pasquale “Paz” Guadalupe Obando-Jimenez
Codename: --
Age: 16
Mutation: Pasquale’s mutation is not a flashy one. There are no pretty colors or big explosions. Instead, her powers acutely revolve around a specific, advanced form of astral projection. Usually in a fraction of a second, Paz projects her astral body into an object before pulling it back again, considering that disembodied essences tend to move a lot faster than a regular girl constrained to the forces of gravity. Once her astral body enters a source, she can provide momentum to this object that is normally an inanimate thing. This gives her abilities the appearance of--but certainly should not be confused with--telekinesis. Her powers still need to be practiced to increase her mental endurance, and heavier objects may only vibrate or jerk violently in the desired direction instead of hurdling itself to where she wants it to end up. Its should be noted that the target in question is going to move in only one direction at a time, and that gravity immediately will go into effect after the momentum is provided. Therefore, Paz is unable to levitate objects, a significant difference between her abilities and telekinesis. This would be the equivalent of picking up an object and throwing it, but with the ability to bring it back once it has reached its target or if it has missed its target.(And it’s rather handy when she has to clean up quickly.) Unfortunately, Paz has shown on more than one occasion that she may unconsciously project her astral self into objects, and this usually occurs when she becomes excited, resulting in smaller, random objects vaulting across the room until they hit something(most of the time a wall or even someone that gets in the line of fire).
Physical Description: From head to toe Paz is the striking feminine image of her father. Naturally olive-skinned and dark-haired by heritage, she displays her Spanish ancestry well. However, she manages to retain a slight boyish look to her face, one that can be accentuated with the right amount of make-up, which she only even bothers to wear at a minimal. Unlike most with Spanish blood, her eyes are not dark. Instead, they are a silver grey, and seem to become significantly brighter for the smallest moment when she’s using her astral abilities.
Slimly built at five foot four, many would think that she is not a force to be reckoned with, a girl that’s easy and would succumb simply to an ominous display of power. She shouldn’t be so easily underestimated.
Already with exotic looks, Pasquale also has a unique.. er... fashion. She seems to just throw on whatever she can get her hands around, but the girl does have an eye for color.. which is good considering that she’d look like a disaster if she didn’t. It is obvious that she loves any type of jewelry and has been known to make some of her own.
Personality: To put it lightly, Paz is batshit insane, like she was dropped on her head one... two dozen times. She has a creative intuition that comes out in almost explosive spurts and can make her seem intimidating and almost spastic. This combined with her seemingly boundless energy is almost a deadly combination. (Most would advise against giving her sugar, even though she seems to consume it in excess.)
However, her tumultuous, loud, unpredictable nature aside, Paz has proven that she can harness her hyperactive nature for constructive purposes, such as she has done to learn English. She’s very easygoing and would much rather try to cheer someone up than see them down, using her people-person nature to her advantage. Paz loves making new friends and can quickly become attached to the hip with someone, and this usually makes her appear overbearing if her rambunctiousness hasn’t already.
Coming from a background where communication is key, she makes it her business to know everything that goes on, and some like to think that she is nosy and just a little too persistent. In actuality, she is merely curious or concerned, or she’s fighting firmly against being left out.
Background: Ironically born on Halloween in Salamanca, Spain, Paz has been strange since the moment she was brought into the world. Fascinated with the child’s eyes, her father was instantly convinced that the child was something special. Despite the hope for their first child, Paz’s mother and father were young and inexperienced, and her mother departed only a year or two after she was born. She disappeared with a trace, leaving the child to Miguel, Pasquale’s father.
Being a single parent was difficult, and had not Paz’s Great Aunt Yolanda moved in to take care of the infant child, Miguel would have never been able to make ends meet. This did not mean that her life was an unhappy one, certainly not. She was constantly surrounded by a loving family and grew up with her many cousins.
Wanting every opportunity for his child possible, Miguel would settle for little less than high marks in school--especially in her English classes, hoping that she would escape the simple life she was in and be so much better than he had turned out. He also nurtured her artistic talents, providing her with what supplies he could afford and taking her to local theatrical performances. Despite all of his love and care, there was little he could do to help her with what power lurked within her.
Paz appreciated the rush of fear at a young age, often taking pleasure in leaving her pet garden snake in the cupboard for her Great Aunt Yolanda to find when making a cup of coffee, or setting her cousin Ramon’s tarantula loose in the house in the dead of night. Her aunt was one of the few people that she simply could not stand, determined not to accept her as a mother-like figure. The dislike was mutual, however, and after a period of years Yolanda came to regard her grandniece as little more than a naughty child. Miguel was only amused by his daughter’s antics, often standing by and chortling with a smile. Ella no significa daño.
She means no harm.
In retrospect, this was true. Paz never meant to hurt her.. only drive her away with constant scares. However, things took a turn for the strange when she was fourteen. The morning of her birthday, Miguel and Yolanda were surprising her with what any child would want--cake for breakfast. Just as they were finishing up the last bars of Feliz Cumpleaños with the horrible addition of some high notes Yolanda gave at the very end, the table suddenly gave a jerk upwards, slamming back down on the floor and shaking glasses and silverware all onto the floor. The cake, much to Paz’s delight, landed on Yolanda’s ‘best dress.’ For weeks after, she was convinced that this was the work of a poltergeist, delving into supposed ‘ghost’ charms. Paz tried to explain that perhaps the cake just didn’t like her, but she was less than pleased.
This incident went without any other occurrences for a year and a half, that is, until a teddy bear launched itself across the room and seemed to attack Paz’s aunt’s face with gusto the second following Christmas.
More or less, this caused a slight uproar, Yolanda putting her foot down and even demanding that the child be put into an institution. Miguel managed to smooth things over, but even he could understand that this was simply not your ordinary special. After some research and consulting his brother for some translating, he sent in an application for Pasquale at the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. He recieved an e-mail only a day or two later; she had been accepted.
After much scrimping and saving, Miguel presented her with a plane ticket to New York some months later. Paz was not excited about the idea of leaving her father behind, despite how much the idea of visiting a different continent intruiged her. With a little bit of coaxing, he was able to convince her that it was best, and that they could easily keep in touch by e-mail and regular phone calls.
And so, Paz is adjusting to her new life in America, eager to make a good impression and learn more about herself and her new-found powers.

Paz tilts her head to one side as she spots Peter entering the room. A wild grin spreads about her expression as she watches him pick up the purple jelly beens that had been expelled all over the floor before he attmepts to decipher her artistic attempt to use jelly beans as a medium. I don’t like the purple ones ither. She nods knowingly, as though it was a common fact that everyone knew that all purple jelly beans were absolutely disgusting. She kicks her legs slightly and leans backwards into the cushions of the couch.
”Púrpura is nice to look at, but not so nice to eat,” she muses aloud with a dramatic sigh, flicking another purple jelly bean across the table as though she’d given up hope of the color purple becoming anything tasty.
What’s that supposed to be? Paz knew he was going to ask what the pile of jelly beans on the coffee table were supposed to be, she could tell by the inquisitve look on his face and the way he kept tilting his head at different angles. ‘Oh, that’s a... well it must be a.. er.. no.. that’s not..’ seemed to cross his face several times and Paz giggles to herself at his confusion. ”Es nada. It’s something but not anything at all.. it’s...” She squints her eyes as if in deep thought, apparently trying to dig into all of her knowledge of the English language to find an appropriate term for her creation.
”Ab..stract, si?” Some English words are so silly.
She arches her dark eyebrows when Peter extends his hand suddenly towards her. I’m Peter. Unable to get a grip all the way around his hand, she grasps most of his fingers, bobbing it up and down several times. ”Yo soy Pasquale Guadalupe Obando-Jimenez.” She says this all very quickly and in a single breath, all of the words running together.
”Pero... you can call me Paz.”
