The sky grew dark as the cold November air swiftly sweeps across the girl's face. It was a beginning sign, signalling that it was going to rain anytime soon but that didn't bother her. Lennise let the cold air rush into her lungs as the air pressure in her throacic cavity decreases. After a couple of seconds, she exhaled out the warm, moistened air as she pocketed her gloved hands.
'Even gloves don't keep your hands warm in this ocassion.' Lennise left her mind to wander about the coldness of the atmosphere as she continue walking down the pavement. A couple of blocks down ahead, Lennise spotted a couple arguing, probably a misunderstanding but that's they always do before a break-up. The guy had his fingers going through his dark brown hair as his 'girlfriend' was retaliating back. He turned to his left and spotted Lennise before turning away.
Lennise shook her head as she decided to take the other corner, not wanting to walk pass both angry individual. Soon, tiny droplets of rain start to fall from the dark clouds. She titled her head up and looked at the sky. Slowly and reluctantly, Lennse held up her hand and felt the droplets fall upon her smooth bare hands.
Snapping back to reality, Lennise noticed that she needed to find a shelther; well at least until after the rain. She mentally cursed herself for not bringing an umbrella along even though she had heard the weather forecast via the radio mentioning that there's going to ve a thunderstorm this afternoon.
Lennise quickens her pace before finding herself at the end of the street. She needed to cross the road to reach to the opposite side but seeing that the rain's getting heavier, she turned back and entered a nearby cafe'. Lennise hadn't notcied this particular cafe' before but the warm and welcoming atmosphere inside was enough to drag her attention to stay there for awhile.
The smell of hot chocolate soon filled the air which tingled her senses. 'Maybe I could stay here for awhile, well until the rain stops,' she thought before taking a seat on a comfortable chair at the edge of the room. In her sitting position, it's easy for her to see who's coming in and getting out. There weren't much people in this cafe' at that moment.
A waitress soon walked up to her and asked for the order as she handed her a menu. Lennise simply flipped through the menu and ordered a cup of hot chocolate and a basket of bagels. The waitress nodded her head as she jotted down the order on a peice of notepad before taking back the menu and walking off.
Lennise glanced out the window before take a deep sigh. She noticed a familiar man walking towards the cafe' with his hands above his head, trying hard to keep the rain off from his head. She furrowed her brows as she watched him enter. Finally, she noticed that he's the same guy who she had seen earlier that afternoon couple of blocks down ahead.
Lennise turned her head to face outside the window but kept an eye on that particular person. As soon as he got seated, he waited for a waitress to arrive while stealing a couple of glances at her. Lennise then stop keeping an eye on him, afraid that he might notice her. Pretending to look around to see whether her order is coming, Lennise managed to stole a glance at the man and saw him making his way towards her.
She felt heat growing up against her cheeks, as she knew that he had already recognized her. "Damnnit!" she mumbled under her breath before looking down at the table.
"Mind if I join you?"
She didn't have to guess who was it. Lennise looked up at him and met his steely blue eye before nodding her head. "Sure, not a problem," she replied before lazily motioned him to the seat opposite her. Her order finally arrived as she felt a huge gush of relief inside her stomach. The man had taken his seat and started to order.
Lennise didn't bother to take another glance at the man but took a sip at her hot chocolate. "I'm sorry but I had forgotten to introduce myself. My name's David," he spoke after Lennise had placed down her cup as he extended his hand. Without hesistaion, Lennise took his hand and shook it. "A pleasure to meet you. Name's Lennise," she replied back to him, her voice had a tiny hint of sarcasm but was well hidden.
