Time Control and Copying Mutations at a Cellular level
Kiera's original power was controlling time in small incriments, such as hours and sometimes days. But when she uses too much of her powers she tends to get very weak and tired from the over use. The development of her powers is the ability to control time for longer periods of times, such as weeks, months and maybe even years. She is also developing how to pause time for a longer amount of time.
These developments with her original powers were halted when she was taken into the lab and had them neutralized so she was incapable of using them for the time she was in there. Because her original powers were neutralized the only powers she had to practice and control were those that she obtained through the experiements. She learned for the four long years she was in there how to control the copying of mutation and reatianing it.
She has been able to retain up to ten other mutations but lately she has been having trouble with retaining new ones permenantly and when her emotions are sent out of control, controlling the permanent ones. She obtains new mutations through skin to skin contact but unlike Rogue her body takes the DNA and causes no harm to the donor.
Physical Description:
Kiera has shoulder length reddish brown hair that is wavy but shorter around her face so it accents the different tints of blue in her eyes. She has a thin composure but she is very athletic especially when it comes to fighting. She has an intriguing composure to her face, especially her eyes. They seem to draw a person in especially when she accents her eyes with dark eye shadows. Her lips are always turned up either in a genuine smile or a sarcastic smirk, depending on who she is dealing with.
Her walk fits her body shape, its graceful as if like a dance. She keeps this graceful movement in her fights as well with the x-men. When she is walking around the mansion or not working she can be found wearing loose outfits such as sleeveless dresses. She prefers to wear a blue dress she fell in love with when she first started working. She doesn't really wear much jewelry, maybe a choker necklace to accent her long neck. On her feet she usually doesn't wear shoes but when she has to she wears strappy snadals with and without a heel.
Her speech is what draws people if her face doesn't. She has a velvety voice that is soft most of the time but she must show some fire it can become a deep, almost commanding voice. Her laugh is like silver bells because she doesn't laugh a whole lot. When she speaks with other adults or x-men she has a very indepth vocabulary, but with students or younger mutants she uses a kinder, less straight forward voice that allows them to be comfortable around her.
Personality:
Kiera is a very reserved person, but that doesn't mean she is quiet. She can be very opinionated when it comes down to really serious issues. She is really good at making small talk and keeping herself out of conversations, but when someone wants to have an indepth conversation about her or things she does she will usually shove them off with a sarcastic comment and move on. Generally she is nice to others but not extremely friendly or outgoing. When she is with the younger mutants she is a little more outgoing and less reserved. She finds herself very comforted with them.
Romance and love are two things Kiera avoids like the plague. She has had admirors but allowing someone that close makes her shiver because she has a real trouble with trusting someone becuase ofpast events. She will bolt or completely ignore someone who shows her that kind of affection or tries to get her to open up and be with them. The only love she allows herself to experience for the time being is that of innocent love with children.
In fights she can work very well with other people of the team but when she completely against a plan she will draw back and dowhat she believes is correct. When they take younger mutants out for fighting she will follow after and protect them as much as possible. If they happen to get in any trouble she'll be the first one to be there to help them. She isn't a glory seeker in any way and she hates it when people praise her extensively.
Her temper is the only thing that is dangerous about her. She can control it very well but when she is pushed to her limits she can't control it. It is like a hurricane hit the location she is at and it about kills and destroys anything around her. Her powers go crazy as she tries to destroy the reason she was pushed and controlling herself. When she has gained her control again she becomes very cold and closed off to people not because of hate but shame. She hates it when her temper becomes uncontrollabe.
Background:
Kiera remembers her past vividly, but it is something she despises to talk about. Her parents were divorced by the age of four and she remembers all of the fights and arguements. At that age she gained her powers and kept trying to fix the problems with her family with them but because she abused them, for a good couple of years she was weak and sick almost to the point of dying. She recovered by the age of eleven and found herself alone for once. Her mother had discovered her power and shrunk away in disgust and terror. Kiera didn't know what to do so she left to live with her father. Upon arriving at her father's house she realized that this was a big mistake.
Her father wasn't abusive but he was rarely ever there at home and when he was he didn't try to be a father. His friends on the other hand began to notice the changes in her as she grew up to the age of seventeen. They began to make advances on her but having kept herself in shape to handle the backlash of her powers was able to take care of herself and her safety. She had been going to a normal high school for normal humans but found that no one really liked her for her. She continued to practice every day with her power so she could become immune to the sickness but as her life became harder to handle she began to slip up with hiding her powers.
One day her father found her stopping objects in place and rewinding the time of the action. Unlike her mother he was very interested in her powers and using them for his own gain. He began to pay attention to her and treating her like princess but for the wrong reasons. He had her use her powers to help him with the buisness he ran. Kiera at the time was unsure of what this buisness was until she turned eightee. At the age of eighteen her father was growing tired with her and wanted more use out of her, so with the power she had helped him earn over the years he tricked her into being sent to a lab that was experimenting with mutatiions and changing DNA in mutants. Kiera would never see her father after that moment.
She was placed in a new program called the Recalling program. Here they selected mutants who showed physical capacities to withstand traumatic experimentation with mixing DNA in their cells. Many of the mutants before her died after only a few days of this but she held on, refusing to give up. She wanted revenge for everything she was being put through. So she was put under great amounts of stress as the scientist began to train her with her new "gift" as they called it. She called her life a curse and played along for the time being. Because her powers needed DNA and the scientist were still unsure about how much DNA was needed they would take a great amount of life from other mutants to trigger her new mutation. She became the most hated mutant in the lab and it only drove her to want to get out more.
In the middle of December a scientist decided to have her fight another mutant that was years younger than her and had little to no control over their power. She was thrown into a room called "The Pit" and commanded to kill the mutant and finally be come their greatest project and earn her freedom. Driven at first by the idea of freedom she attacked the mutant ferociously but as she was about to strike the final blow she looked into the young mutant's eyes and saw herself at his age and how afraid she had been. Pulling away, her mind in turmoil over what she was supposed to do her anger began to take control of her body. She began to lash out at the lab and the walls around her crumbled. She broke free of the building and ran as far as she possibly could. Afraid, ashamed and lost she was now twenty two and unable to figure out what to d owith herself. As she moved around the country she heard of the Institute and began to make her way there with hope she could have a new start.

It was Wednesday afternoon, cool, calm and inviting. This was the kind of day that Kiera would wake up early for just to greet. It was a day like this that made her happy to be where she was. She pulled open the sheer curtains across the large window in her room in the mansion. She smiled to herself as slooked out over the grounds and saw the people of the mansion walking about. She spotted students and x-men alike intermingling. She wished sometimes she could be like that but for now she was happy with herelf. She turned away from the window and walked to her closet, looking for her favorite blue dress. Today there was no way she was going to work. Pulling the dress on she walked barefoot out of her room and down to the kitchen.
"Good morning Miss Kiera." A small voice from the table spoke up. Kiera turned with a smile to the little mutant girl. She was a regular that she visited throughout the day, especially since she was new and had been abandoned by her mother.
"Good morning to you too sweetheart." She said in her soft voice as she poured a glass of orange juice. "Did you sleep well?" She asked as she sat down next to the little girl. The little girl shook her head happily as she ate another spoonful of fruit loops. "That's good. It seems the whole house is up and about. are you going out to play this morning?" She brushed the loose hair in the girls face out of the way. The little girl looked up and smiled.
"Yes Miss Kiera. The girl I share my room with wants to play out by the lake. We were going to play with our dolls." She grinned. "Do you have big adult things to do today?" The girl asked with a pleading look as if she wanted Kiera to say no. Kiera shook her head.
"No I don't have anything big to do today. I do have to stop by Mr. Summers office to drop off some papers but," She saw the wide eyed look and laughed, "Have no fear I will come out and play." She finished off the drink and set the glass on the counter. "You better finish up. I'll see you outside in a little bit." The little girl placed her bowl on the counter and hugged Kiera around the waist before she ran off. Kiera smiled to herself as she walked out of the kitchen and headed for Scott's office.
She wasn't too happy about the latest mission but she had the papers filled and she knew she had to return them. She knocked lightly on the door and waited until he said it was ok for her to walk in. She slipped in and set the folder on his desk.
"Here is that folder and papers you wanted. Thier filled out Scott." She said in her reserved tone. She glanced over at the mutant and smirked. "Thinking about something Scott?" She asked as she leaned against the wall. She watched him shake his head.
"Thank you for the paperwork Kiera. I have a new job for you though," He pulled out a new folder and held it out to her. She took it gracefully and flipepd through it but her expression went from indifferent to irritated.
"Scott, this is the lab where," She looked up at him with a concerned look in her eyes.
"Yes I know it is the lab that did that to you but they have gotten worse and I need you and the team to take care of it." He ran ah and through his hair with stress.
"I can't Scott," She shook her head, trying to brace herself for the memories that wanted to come back to her. "I don't ever want to see that place again." She felt herself shake. Scott noticed the change in her composure and tried not to hug her in concern.
"But the team is the best. I need you to do this for all the mutants-" Kiera cut him off with a motion of her hand.
"All those mutants who hate me for what they did. You have no idea what I went through Scott. You have no idea what they put me through in there. I'm sorry but you will have to find someone else to lead the mission." She held out the folder to him. Scott shook his head.
"Please Kiera..." He pleaded. Kiera shook her head, a firm look in her eyes.
"I can't." She put the folder on his desk and walked out of his office. As soon as she had gotten far enough away she leaned back against the wall and tried not to allow her mind to lash out at her. She hated that place and she never ever wanted to go near it again no matter what. She perked up as soon as she heard the sound of fett and sprinted into the nearest room. She found herself in the music room. she laughed to herself as she sat down on the bench and ran her fingers over the keys. Music was just what she needed.
