Name: Nemo Dakkar Ade-Agil Brown
Codename: Quickstrike
Age: 15
Mutation: Nemo has a pretty unique power, he can generate sharp barbs from his skin, which can be used defensively, like a pufferfish, or can be shot offensivly. He has also mastered it's use as a close combat weapon and climbing aide. The interesting thing about them is that they are not only sharp, but highly toxic (almost fatal now) to others. He can generate venom, like the animals his powers are based from. It comes in two types: Hemotoxin, and Nuerotoxin. He also has developed the ability to inject another poison, once which nearly incapacitates his victims or causes atleast a numbing in the spot of impalement.
Because of his constant need to supply venom, he has a superfast metabolism, meaning he needs to get as much food in his system as possible in order to keep up venom generation. This is often hard for him to pull off, and in result, he can be lethargic at times, sluggish and tired. Also, he has began to take some of the more "charming" traits of the animasl his power mimicks, causing him to be over aggressive, competitive, possesive and territorial. It also makes him very defensive. Although he can control his spines very well, and has learned to fight with precision, he cannot control his of his spines, so when startled, his defence mechanisms step in, and he could shoot barbs from his skin, meaning that others need to pay attention to what they say or do around him in order to avoid a mess.
In order to allow him to fight when his venom count is low, he had to train to olympic levels of athleticsm, and although this is no power, it is imperitive that it is known that his animalistic traits are what have enhanced his ability to learn this stuff. His intelligence is extremely high, but it is unknown whether it is because of his mutation or because he is just a smart boy.
Note: Nemo is considered dangerous because of his current instablity, and caution should be used when approaching him, especially when it comes to surprise parties. Do NOT sneak up on him, as it will most likely be detrimental to your health. He is also immune to all poisons because of his unique blood chemistry, his blood is dangerous, and is quite acidic.
Physical Description: He has brown skin with light brown hair. He prefers to wear it spiked, to represent his power. He has a unique style of dress, a mix of punk, brand names, expensive clothing. His eyes are grey, and he has unique features for his background, no matter how diverse it is. Certain days, he wears traditional clothing for either his religion, or roots.
Personality: Nemo is a comedian, friendly but because of his mutation, he is having problems dealing with others. These mutations have made him testy, defensive, easily made angry and quick to fight during small periods of time. He has a love of learning and machinery and has put together and taken apart his Nintendo Wii and PS3 many times. He also has designed strange personal vehicles called outrageous names such as the "Nemo-mobile" and the "HindenNemo" for fun, although he knows he'll never use them. He likes to design machinery and buildings and has taken it upon himself to design upgrades for the Institutes already elaborate technology, for fun.
He loves to cook and eat, and finds poisons facinating. He is open to other peoples opinions, and especially their religions. He has to be a part of two different religions at once, and feels stressed by his fathers expectations.
Note: Nemo is a very nice guy, who just has a bad power.
Background: Nemo Brown was born to a Muslim father and a Catholic mother. He was a unique child, even for New York. Black, Asian, Arab, Indian and Irish? He was all that rolled into one. As a young child, he moved with his family to Arizona, where he grew up. He developed a strange accent, combining both New York and Arizona accents into one. He was named after a famous scientist, and pirate named Captain Nemo, famous for his role in the story 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Like his namesake, he is a man of science, but also a fearsome warrior if need be.
He played many sports, and excelled quite well, especially considering the fact that he was also one of the biggeset "nerds" in school. While he dominated the field, he won the science fairs. He also got into skateboarding and other extreme sports, doing them as more of a hobby. When his father inherited a company from his father, Nemo suddenly gained a life of privelage. Although he was already used to being spoiled, he now had the best resources to continue his success. He was transferred to a private school where his heritage and love of knowlege caused him to be constantly bullied. It was no better than the school he was in before.
His father had him take a karate class, and he soon developed a love for it. But it wasn't enough. Although this (plus the many other sports he played) raised his confidence, it only increased his bullies' fervor. One day, the kid just decided it was time to teach Nemo a lesson and sent a fist towards his face. But Nemo blocked, and he heard him scream. He uncovered his face to see spines sticking out of his own forarm, and holes in the fist of his bully, who soon passed out from the poison. The kid almost died, but since Nemo's poison started out weak, he survived. Nemo was arrested, but given leniency because of the circumstances.
His father, without the knowlege and consent of his mother, had sent him to be evaluated by Charles Xavier. Theo Brown, Nemo's father, had attended his school, and thought mabye Nemo would be best off with children like him. His mother thought otherwise, so he didn't tell her. Nemo was enrolled and has been there since then. Theo Brown has often helped to finance special projects or donated funds to the institute and other schools for mutants.
His personal views of freedom were challenged when the Mutant "Cure" was announced, and after hearing of the X-men's plan of action, he ran away to join Magneto's cause. He found the camp out in the woods, and after much scrutiny, he was accepted among the other angry and dissolusioned mutants. He met a mutant named Quill, who had almost the same power he had, and learned alot. All in all, these guys weren't any worse than the students at the Institute to him, they were just normal people trying to live a normal life.
He took part in the final battle on Alcatraz, fighting against his fellow students. He used his spines brutally, quickly and precisley. Although he could fight the soldiers defending the compoud, he couldn't bring himself to attack his classmates and soon was struck with a strange needle. At first Nemo thought he would lose his powers, but the syringe fell off, the needle disentigrating in his acidic blood. But he wasn't left unscathed. After watching many newfound friends die at the hands of either Jean or the X-men, he felt quite dissolutioned. Also, the serum only furthered his mutation, causing his spines to release at any time, and causing him to be more primal in thought. When he returned, he returned full of grief. But surprisingly, the very students he fought against accepted him back...many felt the same way about the cure that he did, only they just chose a different option.
He recently developed some issues regarding his mutations' effect on his mind and actions. He hasn't had anything big or special happen to him in life, he has a job teaching both mutants and normal children to adults martial arts of many different variations, and helps out with basketball, softball and track. He also started a tutoring service for other students who need help with certain subjects.
He recognized the need to be knowlegable about his powers, or else people could die. He also realized that these powers required a willingness to get down and dirty, to attack others at their most vulnerable, to be ruthless, just like the animals his power is based from. He spent hours learning about the many venoms he could produce, about his spines, about the animals who traits his mutation mimicked. He is having a problem now, he cannot have surprises, or else he will burst out in spines and possibly hurt someone. He cannot be hurt, or else he will bleed, which is so acidic it can burn through bandages, is life really easier for him now that he is at the Institute?
Current Affiliation
X-Men (In the future...)
Xavier Institute Student
Former Brotherhood Member (for the short time around the battle for Alcatraz)
Sample: Nemo just loved mornings like this. He just can't help but feel energized. He stands up, running a hand through his spikey almost blonde hair, and walks to the computer in his dorm room. He sits casually, and logs onto a chat page, debating about mutants. After adding his two cents, he logs onto MySpace and checks his messages.
"Only one? What kinda social site is this?" He asked, a strange New York snappy accent mix with a southern twang made his words sound quite unique. He shruggs, before walking to his minifridge. He has to have one in his room, in case his metabolism requires him to eat...or else he won't have enough energy to produce venom and study...and he would have to choose between one or the other. That isn't a good set of choices, is it?
He looks through his food and pulls out some peanut butter, an apple and a a bottle of coke. He looks around before tossing his apple into the air and soon a spike stands up from his finger. He catches the apple on it in a way to cause it to spin, the spike slowly peeling off the skin in a spiral. He then bounces it off of the spike, and then shoots the spine up, cutting the apple in quarters. He then catches each in his mouth. He fakes applaud and bows. He is good....
Now to get dressed...he smiles as he digs through his closet. Hmm...he eyes a khaki blazer and matching pants. Hmmm...he could make something out of this. He takes this and other accessories out of his closet, before closing it back.
Nemo sighs...he is really starting to miss his Mom and Dad...his Mom would fold his cloths in nice little organized baggies, his Dad would teach him some cool tech stuff...and now he had no one. Also, he was missing the heat, there was almost no snow in Arizona, unless you live out past Pheonix. Nemo lives in a pretty nice summer home there...but his family is currently staying in their home in New Jersey. Well, more like just outside New York, as in it shared New Yorks area code, but it was still within New Jersey's state line.
He thinks he's about to cry, but soon shrugs it off. He will see them soon enough he was sure. Knowing his mom? She would probably schedule another visit soon. He looks outside of his widow and spies a girl walking outside carrying a ton of books. He knew who she was, she was in a majority of his classes, they had like the highest grades. Kitty Pryde. Now that is some kind of girl, she was the perfect package...smarts, she was cute...personality....Nemo shakes off the blush, and continues his extensive wardrobe initiation.
Honestly, Nemo hadn't been given a very hard time for running away when the cure came out. Only he knew where he truely was, and the only person he entrusted that to wasn't here. Let's just say, his powers aren't the same now that he has come back. Nemo begins to smell something and then straightens, who was that?
"Hey Ne-" Nemo turns, spiks protruding from his body. He freezes, and slowly retracts them, smiling broadly. He just has to hide it from the others...he is perfectly fine, no need to worry right?
