Name: Roseanne "Ivy" Oleander
Codename: Was Ivy, now is Hyacinth, as her power increased since she was a teenager.
Age: 25
Mutation: She has control over a majority of plants and nature. Her skin is also a result of her mutation, as she was olive, and now is green. Her skin and lips were poisonnous to the touch, although she can often control the effect of that poison and has now learned to control that to only when she needs it.
She can survive a long time without food, as long as she has water she can live through photosynthesis. This has kept her alive in the past, making the difference between life and death on numerous occasions.
I have to note here though that her powers and personality have evolved since she was a little girl. She no longer hears plants...now she controls them. One testimate to her evolving power is her preference of fighting barefoot in order to allow herself to grow roots underground so that she can hold her ground if something should hit her or attempt to blow her away. Her hair often has small leaves speckled through it, as a testiment to her being almost more plant than human. One very good skill she gained is using her pheremones to have some sort of control over others.
Her mutation allows her represent both the nurturing and destructive sides of nature. One minute, she could be creating a plant to provide shade to a student, next she could be wrapping an enemy in thorned vines and skewering them to peices.
Now for the weaknesses such a power would entail...well first off, she cannot hide her skin, so when she is out in public, she is known mutant and often targetted for discrimination. Also, her powers seem to be consuming her, the larger the extent she uses them, the more she seems to resemble a plant. So her power is forever hampered by her unwillingness to test it's boundries. Although she loves plants, she has noticed the nature of her powers and doesn't wish to end up losing her humanity. So she only does what she has done before, she doesn't try any new things. Also, she is very weak against fire and extreme cold. Also she is strong her on some substances than others. (i.e. her powrs are alot stronger where there is soil than on a beach or sidewalk.)
Physical Description: She is indeed a strange beauty, her skin a deep shade of green, her hair, red. You could say she even resembles her namesake, the Rose. Her eyes are purple, with green speckled through her iris. Her thick red hair is often speckled with green tiny leaves, and often leaves ordain her head like a laural reath. She is tall in stature, reaching the hight of 5"9.
Personality: Rose normally is kind to other mutants, but has acquired a growing hatred for humans, not just for what they have done to mutants, but for what they have done to the enviroment. So she often lashes out at normal people, and has the views that you would expect out of an overly obsessed ecoterrorist. She is also a strong feminist, not trusting men at all, regardless of whether they are human or mutant. She has a motherly obsession with her plants, and is very sensitive to their treatment.
Background: Roseanne was born outside of the U.S., although she doesn't remember where. Her father was a soldier and her mother owned a flower shop. They moved to the United States when she was the age of four, and right away she was noticed for her beauty. It was a strange beauty, as her skin seemed to have a deep olive tone, yet her eyes were deep green. She grew up having a close affinity to plants, to the point where her parents became worried. She was to the point of prefferring plants to people. She claimed that they could talk to her, that she knew what they felt. In an effort to break her out of that, they put her in many afterschool programs and her mother put her into boxing when she was old enough.
Soon though, her life went downhill. Her mother and father got a divorce and soon her mother remarried. The man was vile, in Rose's mind...he constantly would abuse her and her mother, and soon Rose withdrew even further from people. She learned the hard way that her skin was poisonouse, and many felt as if they had just touched poison Ivy after touching her. This didn't allow her to really make friends. Rose seemed to spend more time tending to plants, starting up a garden and such. This was when she had joined the Institute, as a student. Her skin lost it's toxicity (unless she willing wants it to be toxic...) and she was able to come out of her shell slightly. She got pretty decent grades in school, but soon was delt another blow when while walking home from a trip to the mall (she was a pedestrian...) she was pulled off of the sidewalk and brutally raped. This destroyed her mind, and she withdrew herself completly. She resisted all attempts at comfort, and she left the Institute the first chance she got. She threw herself into her work and when she went to college she studied what she knew best...botany.
She recieved a degree in botany, and in biology. For a project, she went to South America to study it's indigenous plantlife, and was horrified to see trees being cut down, and burned away. (Note: You have to understand, with her already fragile mind and ability to emphathize with plant life, seeing this was a hard blow.) It was as if she could hear them screaming, as if she could feel the pain herself. Full of anger, she startind a campain of protest, sabatoging equipment and planting trees wherever she could. This didn't bode well for the industries who had invested alot of time and money into the destruction. They had entertained ideas about taking her out...afterall, it was the rainforest, who would find out?
One day, she had climbed onto the branches of a tree she was trying to save, in order to stop the workers from cutting it down. She had been living up there for about two days, when suddenly she felt a jolt. A large cutting machine was tearing into the base of the tree. Rose tried to yell to him to stop, but he wouldn't. To make matters worse, she had chained herself to this tree, and fumbling around for the key only gave the man in the machine more time to do his work. At first, she couldn't understand why he couldn't hear her, but then it all clicked. They were trying to kill her, and if they made it look like an accident, if she was found, they couldn't really be implicated.
When the tree finallly snapped and fell to the ground, so did her mind. She would never trust humanity again, and as she laid there, pinned under that tree, thoughts of anger and revenge swam through her mind. That is where things get shady...witnesses say that in about two weeks she finally emerged, her skin a deep green, her eyes (full of never ending passion and rage) were a deep purple. Small vines seemed to encircle her limbs. How did she survive? Photosynthesis? This event triggered the full extent of her mutation, making her more plant than human. She seemed to become very primal right after she came from the forest.
The first thing she did was take revenge on the people who had cut the trees down in the first place, and authorities who arrived on the scene recalled seeing men completly wrapped in vines, machinery torn apart, as if nature had overran the place. Roseanne made her way back to the states and left a trail of destruction in her wake. Government buildings were trashed, homes totalled...all in the name of nature. She was labled an ecoterrorist, and was sought for capture by the FBI. She made it home and killed her step father, strangling him with a vine. As we all have learned, people with that mindset should not be given any power of any kind. She became a meglomaniac and sociopath, doing things for her own pleasure, using her pheremones to get people to do what she wanted before using her toxic skin to poison them.
She had planned to destroy a building and sabatoge the machinery of a company who had been planning to dump their waste in a bay, which would damage plant and animal life. She didn't care that the attack would kill many people, as she viewed them with contempt. This attack was interrupted by her former classmates, now turned X-men and sticking true to Charles Xavier's belief in the power of rehabilitation, she was taken back to the institute.
.
There she withdrew from the others, sulking in her room when she wasn't under constant observation. (Another note: I stated above, Rose wasn't outgoing when she first attended the Institute, so many of her classmates were just that...classmates. She didn't develope any real friends until she returned. Most people didnt even realize she went here in the firstplace.) She felt as if she was withering away. But she cheered up a bit when she was given a small plant for her room. She spent a long time nurturing this baby plant, and soon, her demeanor seemed to improve. As the plant grew, so did she. She then got to the point where she could emerge from her room, and interact with the other students and faculty, albeit the female ones. She still viewed the men with contempt. She thought they were all like her stepfather.
After help from Prof. Xavier, she seemed to regain some of her humanity, although perminantly green, she didn't consider herself a plant anymore. She also began to regularly take part in outdoor activities and even got to work on a greenhouse so that she could continue her studies. Her true personality began to blossom, and she became a literall mother-nature, nurturing both students and her plants. She also became a tease and often flirted around for fun. She volunteered to teach students about nature and biology, and regularly went on camping and hiking trips. She also voluteered to help out in other labs or in the medical lab, using her knowlege of natural poisons and medicines.

Roseanne Ivy Oleander lies there, in intense pain. The air has almost been crushed out of her, and now she is pinned under a large tree. To make matters worse, less desirable animals are squirming about all around her. It had been about a week or more now. How was she even surviving? At first, she felt the burning pain of starvation, and after three days, she had closed her eyes, passing out from the pressure and hunger. She had resigned herself to die. But she didnt'...and days later she woke up. The sun was rejunivating her, and soon her burning hunger dissapated.

One wouldn't believe the amount of rage that was swimming through her mind right now. How dare they?! First they dared to cut down her beloved trees, as if they were just there for them to toss aside. Such hubris! Gaia, her earth mother, wouldn't stand for such an insult...she was sure. Soon her thoughts swam from the men who had trapped her here, to the men who raped her in school. Then to the most hated man of all...her stepfather. She could imagine squeezing the life out of him. Humans needed to pay, for what they have done to nature and this anger fueled a new strength within her and using her newly gained strength, she could slowly get from under that tree, and with a new religous fervor, she set to work. This will show them to mess with Mother Earth! She giveth, and she could taketh away...
