Name: Jade-Lin Fletcher
Codename: Chameleon
Age: 18
Mutation: Ability to stick to walls due to a secreted sticky liquid. She also has a prehensile tongue aptly named, "Chameleon tongue". She has enhanced agility and strength in her legs, allowing her to make strong leaps. Also her flexible spine allows her to sit crouched for hours and do acrobatic movements that would make most cringe.
But her most useful ability is her ability to become sllightly invisible. When I say slightly, I mean that she can blend into her surroundings, making her more of a stealthy combatant. She can also do this for other people as long as they are making some sort of contact with her. Another plus is that she can use this skill to give herself a more olive and less green tone, allowing her some sort of much needed normalcy during the day. The problem with it is the fact that when severly injured this skill goes haywire, causing her to turn a variety of conspicuous colors.
Another problem with this is that it forces her to use alot of concentration, and at this point, she is no where near the level that she should be. Although her "invisibility" is convincing, a trained eye might be able to see a peice of a building move slightly and tell it's her.
Also for some reason, she developed weak eyes, preferring the dark to daytime. As she has taken a more animal mutation, she has alot of those same animal urges, so she has the urge to eat bugs, small animals, etc. and that isn't very endearing. So if it weren't for her easy going attitude or blending ability, she would have a very difficult life.
Physical Description: Jade has a slight accent, nothing too obvious, but sounds slightly europeann. She fits her codename, she has yellow-green skin, emerald eyes, and dark green hair, usually cut short up in spikes. She has a dancers build, muscular, but lean. She often slouches, and walkes with a slouch usually. People aren't sure whether that's just how she chooses to be or if her spine is curved in a way which allows maximum flexibility, but at a price will not straighten. She has tattoos on both shoulders, and her wrist.
Her "battle clothing" is usually black, consisting of black pants, a spike studded belt, a crop tank under a zip up vest, a black arm warmer on on arm and spike studded wristbands with fingerless gloves. She either wears black combat boots either over or under her pants. Every day clothing consists of a pair of leather or jeans, a loose studded belt, a tank or shirt and a pair of boots.
Personality: She is normally pretty energetic, and quick-witted. She has a big sense of humor, and usually open to meeting others. But she is also a bit foul-tempered, and resents mutants without physical mutation. Or you could say, any mutant who hasn't been marked as one, or you cannot tell is one is no mutant to her. That came from a life of having to shield herself in order to avoid the persecution that she saw many of her peers endure. Black is her favorite color besides green, not because she is of the alternitive crowd, but because it looks cool against her skin. She is easily jealous of other people, especially if they do not have a physical mutation. Also, despite her optimistic attitude, she has a low sense of self-asteem attributed to her mutation.
Background: Jade-Lin has had a pretty uneventful life so far, her mutation developed after birth, but her physical mutations hadn't manifested yet. Her father was a leading authority on reptiles, her mother was a teacher. They lived in a modest middleclass home, and life was pretty good.
Growing up, she naturally took to some sports, but her parents weren't concerned, but proud. They didn't realize that this was just part of her mutation. They were more worried about her love of punk rock and her penchant for getting into uneeded touble. Her initial powers were weak at best, as she only had agility which came from having such a flexible spine. So, when other students were outed as mutants and were being persecuted, she had no idea she would be in the same situation soon.
It wasn't very dramatic when her powers evolved, she just woke up one day and felt stronger than before. After feeling her biceps and noting that they were alot more toned, and feeling quite pleased after looking down and seeing a toned stomach, she made her way to the mirror to prepare for school. She wasn't prepared for what she would see....
Her skin was green, so was her hair. Her eyes, which were until now brown, also turned green, and she realized she had some pretty good periphiral vision. She let out a shocked cry, and her mother came up there and promptly, yet comically, fainted. Jade's father just stared for a second, before blaming himself. Little did he know that his work with reptiles had really nothing to do with her mutation at all. Anyways, she wanted to go to school and show off her abilities. Her father said no, and she didn't argue. After all, who REALLY wants to go to school, right? She did, however, sneak out and play with her newly gained powers.
After jumpng from rooftop to rooftop, and sticking to what ever hard wall she could find, she had an incident with a kid with an ice cream cone. He had stuck his tongue out at her, and her being the playful person she was, she stuck hers out right back...only, it kept going and going, until it hit a light post. Now the problem with this was, not only did people see this...but it was the middle of winter. Her tongue froze to the pole, while she was accross the street. She looked around as best she could and was so embarrassed she could cry. She just wanted to blend in, to dissapear, not to be called a 'green freak'. Peoples looks went from confusion to astonishment. She was confused until people asked "Where'd she go?". Realizing what she had done, she slowly made her way the pole, while still remaining concealed. Once she got to the pole, she did a quick prayer and pulled hard, screaming in pain once she ripped it off. All those tastebuds...she wouldn't be able to taste anything for a week atleast. But alteast Jade had developed some new powers....
Jade was in the end of her junior year when the events at Alcatraz took place. She had heard both sides of the argument, for and against the cure. Honestly, she felt conflicted. Being a mutant with a physical mutation, she could understand that it would be quite tempting to wish to get rid of that stress...but then, she could hide hers, albeit barely. But she also felt that mutants who took the cure, or fought to protect it were traitors to mutantkind. She began to resent normal looking mutants.
She joined the brotherhood during their march accross the bridge, leaving her parents in their car and making a small leap before the bridge was torn completly off. She relished the oppurtunity to fight some human "opressors". It didn't turn out as fun as she had anticipated when needles began to rain through the crowd. Jade was able to avoid being hit by such, and made an effort to keep fighting. But soon, a woman in red, who she had honestly never heard about until that tday, had some sort of a nuclear meltdown or something. Jade saw what she was doing to the island, and she took off, running to safety.
She was able to avoid capture, as she used her blending abilities ot alter her skin tone to more of an olive one, and blend into a wall or something if needed. She's unsure of her plans right now, and most of all, she wishes to graduate from highschool and start a pretty normal life. She was actually starting to take a look at Xavier's school, and has scheduled somewhat of a tour. She liked the brochure...
Current Affiliation: Former semi-brotherhood member (one of the minor members...) and possible Institute Student.
Sample: "Wow...what happened?" Jade asks, staring in a mirror. She takes this moment to look her self, up and down, before letting out a yell. As she hears footseps, and frantic ones, getting closer to her room, she runs a hand through her now green hair. When did this happen? She smirked a bit...it was a cool hair color, but she doesn't really like the green skin. It would be different if it was a cool green, like salad is...but no, it was yellow-green. This is definenlty not going win her any awards this year...
She couldn't finish her thoughs, because her mom is letting out a screech so loud it would wake the neighbors if it wasn't in the middle of the day. She turns to see her standing in the door way, looking as if she had been shot and falling to the ground. Her father then made his way into her room, in the process looking her over. What is happining here?
"I knew I spent to much time in the lab...it must be my fault..." Jade hears him say and rolls her eyes. Please....
"I'm gonna go to school today, I guess, show everyone my new digs..." She says, walking by casually. Her mother had a habit of panicking over nothing, so this was definently not the firsttime she fainted. She did the same thing when she saw the tattoos, the peircings...it could be pretty funny...
"No your not, stay home, I can call in some experts, we can see what to do..." Jade looks over to her father, a bit offended. She isn't one of his reptiles, she is his daughter! She just nods, and sits, and as he leaves, she promptly jumps out of a widow. She's done this before, no worries.....
