Josh pulls his shirt on over his head, fumbling for a second in the dark. There. Finished, he pulls his jacket from its hanger and drapes it over the back of the chair. He takes the letter that he’d written the night before from its hiding place in one of his textbooks on the shelf and sets it on the nightstand.
Which means that it’s time to go. Jake and Ororo needed him to deliver some things to New York City, and since it was Valentine’s Day, of all days, he’d opted to leave early to be back by the afternoon. Jake should understand this is one of those big-deal days. Josh shakes his head with slight humor. Something was going on between Jake and Ororo, and Jake had been sure to keep the particular details hidden from him during their more recent sessions… Not that I really want to know details, exactly.
He moves over towards the bed and stares down at the sleeping Warren, and then kneels next to it. I love you… so much. His note had taken forever to write, because words seemed so completely useless to describe their relationship. Both of them knew perfectly well how the other felt, thanks to their mental link… but it felt good to put it down onto paper. The right words were just elusive.
Josh brushes a hand lightly across Warren’s tousled hair, and leans in to kiss him softly on the lips. Sleep well. He gets up and leaves the room, grabbing his jacket from the chair as he shuts the door quietly.
Warren -
Jake and Ororo needed me to run an errand today to New York… but I’ll be back this afternoon, with plenty of time to get ready for wherever it is that we’re going.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
There’s a lot more meaning behind those words this year. Usually Valentine’s isn’t a very big deal. But now that I have someone to share it with, I can’t wait to finish up in NY and be on my way.
Dating you these past couple months (6 months is nearly here!) has been amazing. Indescribable. It’s funny to think that all of this began when we started talking in that coffee shop. What if it hadn’t been raining? You’ve never have taught me to fly… We’d have never gone to the concert together. I can’t even imagine what my life would be like without you beside me. You are my partner, my best friend, and the love of my life. Just feeling your presence in the back of my mind is enough to calm me down when I’m stressed out.
I love you with all my heart, with all my soul. Waking up next to you each morning reminds me that I’m the luckiest guy on this planet.
Yours forever,
Josh
