Questions - Part the First! ;D

Mandatory Questions

1. What about you is heroic?

Honestly, nothing, really. I’m not a hero, I’m just...trying to do something…which is, I guess, better than nothing, and therefore heroic, but, y’know, I don’t really view m’self as a “Heroine” of any sort.

2. What about you is social? What do you like about people?

I’m not really sure; I’m actually shy, really. But, I think it’s kinda comforting to be around people – people I know, who know better than to touch me or something, anyway. I’m a little bit reclusive, actually, but I think it’s the fact that they’re real that I like about people. Which really sounds crazy, great. But, yeah, the fact that they’re not shadows in my head is definitely a major plus, and makes me feel a bunch saner to just be around real people. Until I say something weird, anyway. Heh. I hope that answers the question well enough...

3. Of what benefit could you be to group you're currently affiliated with/intend to be affiliated with?

Benefit? Well, I guess technically my powers could be counted as a benefit, to some people. I mean, I’m not really a leader-type, not really an idea-person, so I guess that’s about all of it, really. Power-wise, I can do anything – literally. If I can get in contact with the person that has that power, I can steal it, and take them down at the same time. I know I’ve got a lot of potential, people say that a lot, but it’s a little annoying, really.

4. Why would/did you choose to join this group?

I joined them because they gave me someplace to be, at first. Then I made friends, and I decided to stick with it. Plus…there’s the added “hope” factor – that eventually they’ll figure out what’s wrong with me, and be able to help fix it. Now that Xavier’s gone, I don’ really know how that’s gonna happen, though…

Personal Questions

5. What is your real, birth name? What name do you use?

Marie Lynn D'Accanto, but I go by Rogue.

6. Do you have a nickname? What is it, and where did you get it?

Rogue – it’s not really a nickname. A name, a codename, really. It just…. fits me better than “Marie” does. I think some guy I hitchhiked with called me “a little rogue” when I was running away, and it just…stuck.

7. What do you look like?

Well, I’m thin, but not “skinny”, really. Fit, ‘cause of training. Brown hair, that’s about mid-back length, an’ has white streaks in the front, courtesy of Mags (Yeah, thanks for that, by the way. Feel the sarcasm...) Green eyes….Nothing out of the ordinary, aside from the streaks - that's the one way to pick me out of a crowd.

8. How do you dress most of the time?

Typically a pair’a jeans, an’ something that covers all the skin I can manage to cover (long sleeves, gloves, scarves, etc.)

9. How do you "dress up?"

Some form of dress, or skirt. Still the gloves/scarf thing, and tights of some kind…it really depends on the event. I don’t really dislike dressing up, though, as long as I have the time to plan on doing so, I guess.

10. How do you "dress down?"

Sweatpants, long sleeved top, and gloves. Usually if I’m gonna just wander around the mansion on a weekend I’ll wear that sort’a thing.

11. What do you wear when you go to sleep?

Sweatpants and a tanktop or T-shirt, usually. Sometimes a long-sleeved top, but I don’t prefer that. I don’t wear my gloves to bed most nights, though, (gasp!), but I do wear socks…

12. Do you wear any jewelry?

Yeah. Used to wear Logan’s dog tags all the time – ‘till I gave ‘em back. But now I’ve got a ring I never take off – had it since I was little, and it still (somehow) fits. It’s just a simple silver band, so I can keep it on under the gloves. It's supposed to be a "purity ring", but...that's not really an issue for me, now is it? Heh. I’ve got some other things, too, being a girl an’ all, but I tend to just alternate, and the ring’s the only thing I really wear all the time.

13. In your opinion, what is your best feature?

I don’t really know. I mean, I’m pretty much ordinary… My hair’s neat, though. Kind’a unique, and I kinda like it, aside from how I got it.

14. What's your real birth date?

July 23rd, 1989

15. Where do you live? Describe it: Is it messy, neat, avant-garde, sparse, etc.?

At the Xavier Institute. The place in general’s massive, and usually always clean. It’s really pretty fancy, yet still feels homey, after being there so long.

My room’s pretty clean. Organized. It’s got some scattered junk here and there, all over the nightstand and dresser, and all that, but it’s still not really under the “messy” category. I’m one of the very few that don’t have a roommate, since, back in the day, after Liberty Island, I kept having nightmares and botherin’ the gal that was in there with me…still two beds in there, though. Glad for the lack of roomate constantly, especally since all the girls around are a little...hyperactive.

16. Do you own a car? Describe it.

Nope, no car of my own. I don’t really go anywhere, so it’s not a problem.

17. What is your most prized mundane possession? Why do you value it so much?

I’d have to say that it’s my gloves. Or, really, gloves in general. Which sounds really odd, but it’s really important to me to be able to be around people without worrying about killin’ ‘em by accident. Wearing gloves makes me feel…safe. Even if they’re annoying, and hot, and all that, it’s a safety thing.

18. What one word best describes you?

That’s really hard. I’m not a simple person – I’m way complex, which sounds a little snooty, but that’s not how I mean it. I mean…I’ve got other people living in my head. I’ve got uncontrollable powers that could kill someone. I’m alone a lot, but I’m never really alone, ‘cause there’s always the psykes to talk to me, and….The only word that really fits the description is crazy, but I know I’m not. Feels that way, though, sometimes. Um.

But I guess more fitting is lonely. ‘Cause I am, even when I’m around other – real – people, 'cause I can't really get close to them, and they'll never acctually understand me like they do everyone else. They're scared of me, even if they don't admit it - I know, I've absorbed most of them. I'm gonna be alone forever, if I can't control my powers - which sounds totally emo…but whatever, I'm supposed to be honest here, right?

Familial Questions

19. What was your family like?

My family was always “complicated”. My mom and dad decided to divorce when I was little, and sent me to live with my aunt and uncle, basically giving them full custody. So they officially adopted me, when I was about, what, six, I think? So then they were my parents, and they were nice. Always wanted kids, but they couldn’t have any, so I was like…their pride and joy. Until I hit the mischievous years, anyway, and wasn’t their “little angel” anymore, but still, they weren’t bad.

20. Who was your father, and what was he like?

I don’t really remember my dad much – I mean, my real one, anyway. His name’s Matthew D’Accanto. He was quiet, I think. Or not around much. But, then, I was only three or so last I heard from him.

My Uncle-dad (James D’Accanto, my dad’s brother, who I called "Papa") is nice. He’s pretty mild-mannered, but still managed to be the one in charge of things. He liked to spoil me, but somehow he never really…connected with me well. Neither of my 'parents' did, but he seemed like he really didn’t know how to even talk to me. Pro'lly 'cause I was a girl...

21. Who was your mother, and what was she like?

Real-mother’s name was Anna-Marie Blacke-D’Accanto. She was…sad. That’s all I really remember, was that she was always sad, even when she was acting happy. I think she died a few years ago, but no one wants to tell me about what happened to her, and I don’t push, mostly because I didn’t really know her, and I don’t think I need to start mourning someone I didn’t know.

My aunt-mother ("Momma")’s name is Alice D’Accanto. She…expects things from me that I can never be. Wants me to be a perfect “young lady”. Which, as far as I’ve seen from her example, would include drinking at all hours after noon, having strange males leaving the house when she thinks no one will see and my dad’s not home, and talking about people rudely behind their backs? If that’s a lady, I want nothing to do with that. But, aside form all those things and the persistence for perfection, she’s really not so bad, and we kinda got along, even though I never manage to live up to her expectations. We don’t understand eachother, but there’s no real hostility there, anymore, since she’s realized I’m not going to be just like she is. We’re not best friends, but we do get along a little better.

22. What was your parents marriage like? Were they married? Did they remain married?

Original parents, no. Well, yeah, they were married, but they didn’t stay together. My other parents (...Iit’s hard to talk about this without making it all confusing-sounding. Never realized how complicated it all is until now….) were and still are married, yeah. Happilly to most appearances, and they don’t fight, but there’re still some issues beneath the surface, that neither seem willing to face up to.

23. What were your siblings names? What were they like?

No siblings, as far as I know. There may be half-siblings somewhere, but...never met them, if there are.

24. What's the worst thing one of your siblings ever did to you? What's the worst thing you've done to one of your siblings?

Can't answer – No siblings.

25. When's the last time you saw any member of your family? Where are they now?

Wow. Um, that would be about a year an' a half ago, now. They’re still home, in Mississippi. I talked to ‘em on the phone…a few weeks ago. I don’t really talk to ‘em often, but they do call from time-to-time, to “check in”, which is code for “make sure I’m still alive, and wasn’t killed on one of those ‘suicide missions’”. Kinda sweet, actually.

26. Did you ever meet any other family members? Who were they? What did you think of them?

Hee, yeah. I’ve got a grandmother who’s going on a hundred and ten. She’s fun, acts like she’s my age, or something. Not as annoying as it sounds, either.

I’ve got cousins, somewhere down the line – I thin they’re on Momma’s side. One of them actually reminds me of John a little – not the pyromaniacal part, just the smirking and glowering and moodiness, trying to hide the fact that he’s a normal human being under the “oh, no, I’m horrible, don’t talk to me or I'll glower some more” thing. He's nice when you get to know him, though. Me, him, an' Cody had fun when he stayed with my family for a few weeks.

One of my other cousins is a mutant. She can sorta-teleport – she calls it “hopping”…I think she speeds herself up, or something… I only met her once, but I dunno what to think about her, she’s kind of…snooty. And blonde, and thin/built, and pretty, and…"perfect", ugh.

Hee, so I guess I do know what I think of her, after all…

Childhood Questions

27. What is your first memory?

My real-mom singing some song to me. I can’t remember the words, but the tune gets stuck in my head from time to time...

28. What was your favorite toy?

I don’t really remember. I didn’t really use “toys” much, as far as I know – I was always drawing, and painting things, and stuff. Everyone always thought I was gonna be an artist, go to art school, all that…I just did it for fun. Drew on the walls a few times, too…

29. What was your favorite game?

Flashlight-Tag, at night, by the river, with only two or three people total... It’s awesome, and you usually end up falling in the river several times before the game’s over...

30. Any non-family member adults stick out in your mind? Who were they, and how did you know them? Why do they stick out?

Yeah - specifically, there was this little old guy who lives across the street from me, when I was...what, eight, I think? I used to make things for him, draw pictures, being cookies whenever we made ‘em at home, an’ that sort of thing. The guy had to be ninety-somethin’…He was always smiling, but I could tell he was sad, so I’d try to cheer him up.

Eventually he told me his wife had died, and that was why he was sad. So I told him (blush) that I’d be his wife, and take care of him (I was a kid, chill, I didn’t mean it in a sick way, honest!). He thought I was just being silly, but I ended up being one of the last people to see him before he died, since I was always hanging around. I was there when he got sick, and was the one that called 9-1-1, and went to visit him and all that.

Oddly, it wasn’t as sad that he died as I’d thought it would have been, because he got to see his wife again.

31. Who was your best friend when you were growing up?

Cody Robbins. He was the next-door neighbor, and a year older than me, but I was always the one in charge – making the devious plans, and causing the sneaking out and stuff. Eventually we realized the sneaking into each others’ rooms at night wasn’t appropriate anymore, since we both kind’a had a “thing” for each other, and stopped doing that, just going other places instead, ‘cause we didn’t want people to start “getting ideas”… even though I didn’t really know what those “ideas” were, at the time; I was way naïve…

32. What is your fondest childhood memory?

The time Cody and I met this girl down by the river, when I was nine. She was his age, and she was all…girly, and preppy. I didn’t like her at all, but I think Cody did. So, anyway, I pushed her in the river, and she starts screaming, and I’m laughing so hard I can barely breathe, while Cody looks at me like I’d gone utterly crazy. I may very well have…. Anyway, gal gets out, and runs off crying, swearing that she’s going to sue me. She never did, and she moved away a few weeks later. Very amusing.

33. What is your worst childhood memory?

Oh, geez...The time Cody broke his leg falling out my window. I thought for sure he was dead, ‘cause he’d passed out. And it was about midnight, too, and I was only, what…eleven? I was scared to death. Luckily it was just a broken leg, but that was about the last time we snuck in and out of windows on the third floors anymore. It's still not funny, to this day.
