Too much... How much, exactly?

Having discussed this with Wabonda and Jo'roro, I'm going to open it up to the floor.

First off, a bit of background; I've been rping for nearly 2 years now, and writing slashfic for almost as long. Not long before I started up 100m (and one of the numerous reasons why I did so) I got kicked off a site for crossing some mysterious line between what was acceptable sex and what wasn't. From what I can remember the site's rule was *you can get nude but don't touch anyone*...

Flashforward to now.
As some of you might have noticed, we don't really go in for restricting the pudnuffy side of the site (instead we encourage it, all the time, because I am a twisted sick little admin). I don't feel that I can put that sort of line in place, because who am I to wander into a thread and say *you can touch this part but not that one* or other stupid rulings like that? My attitude is, if it's IC and not just random crappy PWP then go right ahead and let the creative juices flow, and if you don't want to read it then don't.

But that's just me, the hard-R-slash-addict. I know we have a wide range of ages and pudnuf-appetites on the site (the slash/non-slash argument, for example) and hey, you're all important. And how far we can go in a thread is at present an issue, with F&I / Josh-Warren, and will no doubt continue to be one. So feel free to add your $0.02

As long as it's safely labelled so I don't randomly stumble upon anything I don't want to see, I'm fine with its being there in general. *shrug* Just because I don't want to read it, doesn't mean you guys can't have fun.

I mean, I've been a member of a site where they played out sex scenes in very crude ways, and it's really nasty, and unlabelled, and I left the site 'cause that's *all* the site was, basically, after awhile - random assorted sex scenes with no sitewide plot, no general RPing, and I, personally, don't write sex scenes, so there was nothing for me to do.

But as long as there's still a plot here aside from random sex, and things are labelled so no one misktakenly reads it, I don' care. ;D

Call me a perv, but I don't mind sex scenes at all, whether labelled or not *mmm, free porn* XD If I'm reading a thread post after post and it took a turn that doesn't suit my liking, I just close the window and voila, no more problems! However I agree with Rogue, we should stick to the main plot without making the whole site into a cyber sex hole.

Nah, just kidding. I've been on sites like that too... Like I said, PWP is to be avoided, while IC sex with a point (which is a whole 'nother thing to meanignful sex... erm, you lot get it, right?) is good.

For example, the F&I thing is part of the wider Bobknap/Kaytraz arc, while Josh-Warren is just so right as part of a smaller character-study sort of posting It all comes down to the "elite site with focus on character development and clear characterisation" thing again... (should really pay more attention to the het stuff, so I can come up with other examples once in a while. After all, the site doesn't revolve around slash *shifty eyes*). So yeah. General guidelines - shouldn't come from nowhere, should be true to the character, and no squickiness without some sort of character / plot based justification. Basically the same rules that govern plots in general. That sound about right?

Labels... yeah, we should start putting warnings up I believe Bob and Josh have been doing so.

I've totally stumbled across things that I felt were rather messed up, but then again, I'm not easily shocked. So I sympathize.

I have no problem putting a warning up for people who aren't interested in R+ -ish threads. Hopefully a general content warning should be okay, because it's hard to predict to what degree things heat up.

Handful of things:

• There are things that bother me, some of which have appeared in threads/posts on this site, but sex isn't among them. I don't particularly want content warnings for them. I'm a big boy, I can take it.
  
• I'm happy to put up content warnings for sexually explicit threads if others want them. It sounds like at least Rogue does, so I will. If there's things other than explicit sex that people want warnings for, let me know and I'll at least consider it.
  
• In my experience it's actually far more difficult to write good sexually explicit text than good sexually suggestive text. That said, sometimes straight-up porn is exactly the right thing for a scene, and sometimes I just enjoy it for the prurient value.
  
• Agreed that having most posts be straight-up porn would change the character of the site, and not in a good way. Ditto for having most posts be straight-up combat. Variety is the spice of life. Most of the characters involved in sexy scenes here are also involved in other types of scenes, so I think it's all good.
  
• Re: pyro paying attention to the het... given that you're in one het thread, and your sister is in the other, I would have expected it, yes.

Hey, I'm well noted on other sites for my joy of sexual posting, odd that this site has been neglected by me for so long. Anywho, me and my significant other on here will probably be moving toward some sort of sexual posting soon, and I know we always end up going the whole explicit nine yards instead of just suggesting it, although it will be more than likely with Kurt and Bella, seeing as how old man sex really doesn't do it for me......but blue furry elf sex does ^^. I do however would really appreciate a warning label on sex threads, as I'm not a real fan of guy on guy hot steamy man sex, just not my thing.
