OK. This thread/arc is a little different from anything we've done up to now, so here are some guidelines.
Basically this arc is going to have two pieces to it:
1. The investigation
This is open to Primer, Josh, Storm, Pyro, and Roger -- the "lead investigators", as it were. I expect y’all to actively try to figure out what happened.
In general this will mean posting about what investigation your character is doing, be it poking through the site for clues or going off to interrogate NPCs or searching through the Internet for things or who-knows-what.
I'll respond either via PM or in a followup post telling you what you find out.
2. Everything else.
This is open to everybody.
Outside the investigation itself, the arc is completely freeform, just like everything else around here. So feel free -- nay, encouraged! -- to start new threads in the "Fate of Magneto" folder as you see fit... anything from pure-RP of characters wondering what happens now, to combat threads where the BH invade the Institute convinced (rightly or wrongly) that the X-Men killed their leader, or the X-Men decide this is the right moment to take down the Brotherhood once and for all, to your character for whatever reason deciding to take credit for having killed Mags, to whatever you think is cool.
Have fun with this – my goal is for the mystery to be the core of some interesting player-driven RP, not for this to be a purely GMed thread under strict control.
Among other things, this means it’s perfectly OK for your characters to believe whatever they believe about who is responsible, for whatever IC reasons they may have, and to take action accordingly.
It’s also OK to suggest IC lines of investigation to the “lead investigators”
But please, don’t post IC investigations of the actual facts of the case unless you’re a lead investigator… don’t go poking around for clues, etc. (At least, don’t do so in any way that stands a chance of finding something new.)
If you’d like to become a lead investigator, say so! I'll probably say "sure, that’s fine!"
I want to be inclusive but I also want to avoid a char with powers I hadn't taken into account suddenly doing something I hadn't expected which makes the whole "mystery" fall apart in a boring way.
By the way, note that the responsible party or parties might be PCs, or pre-existing NPCs, or NPCs I made up whom you've never met yet. So any suspicion you have IC is perfectly fine... go ahead and play it out. Personally, I think it would be fun if this led to inter-PC conflict you could RP.
Any questions, feel free to post them on this thread or PM me (Warren).
