Shooting Some Hoops (Open)

It was a nice day, but it was still quite cloudy out. Riley wasn't sure if she should go outside for a bit, cause it seemed like it was going to rain, but she went out anyways. One her way out she grabbed a basketball. I guess I could shoot some hoops for a bit.

Soon Riley made it to the basketball court. It was very quite out and no one was to be seen. Riley knew the reason why no one was out, mostly becuase they think it's going to rain soon and also they are in class doing work. So Riley was mostly on her own. She threw the ball at the basket, and it didn't go in the first time, but the second time she tried it went in.

Danny has found himself in a dilemma. All students were inside. That means that whichever fear he decides to soothe, the other one will go hay-wire. Well, not exactly. Not since that movie... he thinks to himself. His claustrophobia is as strong as ever, but the fear of being alone is subsiding, or so it would seem. Somehow, whenever he is alone he manages to think that he actually has real friends, like Bobby, and Josh, and Warren, and Riley. And, then again, whenever he thinks this, another voice, the torturing, treacherous one, tells him that he barely knows the people, and that they couldn't care less about him.

Such is the case right now, as he walks through the grounds, avoiding closed spaces as much as possible. After a few minutes, he hears some sounds from the basketball court, and he goes to investigate, only to find one of the matters of his internal discussion- Riley. A smile rises on his face as he remembers the events of that rave they went to.

"Hey, Riley!" he calls out, walking over to join her.

Riley had been throwing the basket ball some many times at the basket, that she soon lost track how many of them she actually got in. She began to wonder if anyone was going to come out and maybe talk to her, but she had a feeling that everyone was busy. Riley sometimes wonders why she even lives here at the mansion. Yeah, she knows that the professor allowed her to stay, since she had no where else to go, since she had been living on the streets her whole life. But then she always feel so useless around here and is never good for anything, but healing people, even though no one even comes to her asking if she could heal them. Sometimes she even wonders if she left, if anyone would actually noticed that she was gone.

While in the middle of shooting another basket, Riley hear someone calling her name. It was a familiar voice, and she quickly looked around to see who it was. Then she had spotted Danny coming towards her. She smiled at him, and some events from the rave came rushing into her mind. "Hey Danny! Hows everything? I haven't seen you since the rave." she said to him with a smile. She was really glad that she now had someone to talk to.

[Tempero]

"Oh, good, I guess. Yeah, I've been trying not to be in the mansion...What about you? How's life been treating you?" he replies, wondering at why he said what he did so freely. It's not like there's anything different about Riley, right? Maybe there is. She reminds him of someone in his past, and besides, she is the first person whose powers he actually borrowed, and he did help her out of a relatively big problem. Wait, that sounds as if I am expecting some gratitude or special treatment or something from her. Just shut up, Danny, will you? he thinks to himself and he waits for an answer. The clouds seem to be getting thicker at a relatively slow pace.

The ball was bouncing around a bit and was slowly making it's way back towards Riley's direction. She quickly went over to it and picked it up. She listened to Danny as he spoke to her. Right away Riley caught the part, when he said that he was trying to avoid the mansion. Riley turned around with the basketball in her hand and was facing Danny. "Why are you avoiding the mansion for?" she asked him, a bit confused. He is suppose to be a student here and he doesn't want to be around it.

Soon Riley remembered the question Danny asked her. "I haven't really been doing anything. Just hanging around and being useless." she told him planly. She had heard some students around the school talk about her some times, calling her the random girl that lives there. It does bother her, but their really isn't anything she could do about it. Riley couldn't become a teacher, because she didn't have her powers under control to even help the students, and she couldn't become a student, cause there was no one that would be able to teach her and are willing to get hurt.

At the question, Danny's eyes quickly avoid hers, but then slowly get back. "Um...I don't...do...well...in the mansion..." he says, leaving some space for guessing whether he meant actually physically inside (the last choice possibly), by means of being accepted, or by means of academical success. In either way, Danny is not about to blurt out fears that have been haunting him for years now, no matter what the aftereffect.

"You're not useless. You can always help other students. And it's not like your healing abilities are negligible. Oh...sorry...I sort of...got aware of all your powers when I borrowed back at the rave..." he says, trailing off, realizing that he might have offended her. Some mutants don't like others knowing about their powers, and whenever Danny borrows, or does any control over a mutant's power, he gets an insight into the exact abilities of the mutant. A reason less for people to like him.

As soon as Danny looked away from her and slowly began to look back at her, she knew something was up. She then heard him saying that he doesn't do well in the mansion. "Don't worry, you'll be able to fit in well at the mansion. No one here bites, well not much anyways." she said, trying to joke around a bit. Riley thought that maybe the reason why he was afraid of the mansion, was that there were so many people and that he wouldn't fit in, like her, but then deep down she had a feeling that it was something else.

Soon Danny told her that she wasn't useless and that he knows all her powers. A slight smiled came across her face. "Thanks, but I really am useless. I'm known as the random girl who lives here, since I don't attend to any of the classes and I don't teach. Also, no one seems to remember that I'm a healer and could help them, so I basically just do nothing all day." she told him, feeling a bit depressed about it, but she didn't want the topic to become a depressing one. "Anyways, you know all of my powers? That's cool, so now I don't have to explain them to you." she told him with a slight smile.

[Tempero]

Danny gives a weak smile, incapable of persuading anyone that it actually had any meaning. "It's not about fitting in...although that is imposed as a problem too, as a side effect." he replies, a single moment of sadness flashing across his green eyes, but then disappearing in the usual warmth.

His hand goes up and through his white hair, to mess it up a bit. "Why don't you teach? I'm sure people could have allot of benefit from your flying and healing experiences. Actually, you could teach from all of your powers." he says, not knowing that her powers are not under complete control. He only knows the powers she has not how well controlled they are. "Besides, for the healing part, you could work in the infirmary."

Watching Danny speak and the quick flash of sadness he had, Riley didn't want to get deep into his little situation about the mansion. She knew that it would be best to just drop the subject about it. "Well, if you ever want to talk about it or need to talk to someone about anything, let me know." she told him with a reasuring smile.

Then he mentioned about her teching the students how to use their powers. I guess he knows my powers, but he doesn't know about my control over them. she thought to herself with a slight sigh. "It's a good idea, but I can't. The truth is... I have absolutly no control over my powers. The only ones I can control is my flight and healing, but the others had gone out of wack a while back. I try hard not to use them, cause I could kill someone by accident." she told him truthfully. How come I have become so truthful to people lately?

[Tempero]

Danny flashes a smile, this time a real one, and his eyes get a bit warmer. "Thanks, it means allot." he says, gazing deep into her eyes.

As she tells him about her control over her powers, some realization dawns on him. "You can still teach those two, and the infirmary doesn't exactly give you an opportunity to kill someone, unless you go psycho with a syringe." he replies, and then stops a bit, realizing how bad a joke that was. "Um...sorry, I didn't mean for it to sound like that... That was stupid...sorry..." trailing off, once more. for the n^th time. You really are stupid. the treacherous voice appears again.

Riley smiled at Danny, glad that he knows that there would be someone there for him. She kept the deep eye contact for a while.

Once she had told him about her control over her powers, she noticed that realizes a bit about it. She then listened to his little joke about her healing powers and laughed a bit. "Yeah, I could teach other students how to fly and heal, but there is only a tiny few that I know who has those powers and already has control on them. Also the Infimary was a pretty good idea, and I have tried it before, but it seems lately people have been more careful about getting hurt. Don't worry I wont go psycho, but if I do, I think I'll just try to use it on certain people." she said with a small laugh. She then noticed that he felt bad about making that joke. "Don't worry about it. I know you were just joking around and I didn't take it seriously." she told him with a smile.

[Tempero]

"Oh, OK...thanks..." Danny says, obviously relieved. He looks at Riley, then at the ball. "Mind if I join? God knows I need to do something with someone[/i]."[/color] he adds, putting a certain highlight on the words "with someone", although subconsciously.

Walking up to her closer, he takes the ball and shoots it, missing critically. He runs up and grabs it before it rolls off any further. Laughing, he says, "I've never been good at sports involving balls." jokingly.

Riley smiled at Danny, glad that he seems relieved. She then heard him asking if he would join her. "Sure, of course." she told him, passin him the ball. Riley then turned around to watch him as he shoots. Missing the basket, she watches him going after the ball. Then Riley hears his little comment saying that he was never good at these types of sports, with a laugh.

With a smile and slight laugh, Riley walked over to Danny. "Here let me show you a trick." she told him. She grabbed his hand and lead him to the front of the basket, and lining him up with it. "Ok, put up the ball and aim it for that square that is just above the basket." she told him. Then Riley took a few steps back to give him some room as he tries.
