Sam's mouth was incredibly dry as her eyes fought there way to open. The brightness of the room caused her to keep the lids shut for a moment while she tried to get her bearings. The last thing she remembered was two guys helping her and their voices and scents as they took her somewhere. Sam really didn't care where she went as long as she could rest.
The bullet must have lodged itself inside her shoulder because now it felt like someone had dug a hole deep within her and planting a seed to grow sunflowers. It was numb, yet it hurt, and a small moan escaped her lips as she tried once again to open her eyes.
When the light finally adjusted, she looked slowly tilting her head from side to side trying to get a look around, but everything was a big blur. The smell was different and she could sense the sterile pads and liquids that were around her. Obviously, this was some kind of hospital room, but was it in an actual public facility?
She peered her eyes around to see if anyone was around, but couldn't tell as a small sharp pain shot through her wound and down her arm. She groaned softly but found that her body was numb. I hope this isn't some kind of laboratory to experiment on mutants.

Jack had been sitting in the corner of the med lab reading through a Golf magazine. All the medical types had left the room, but Jack had been spending a great deal of time waiting for the girl to wake up. He wasn't about to leave now. besides, his schedule was rather free and open as of late. The golf magazine was set adise however when the colorless tiles on the med lab floor started to distract him. Each one was exactly 9 inches by 9 inches with miniscule variations in the thickness of their grouting. He started counting them, a mundane task that his subconscious was enjoying every second of while his conscious tried it's best to endure and wait out the ridiculous process.
After a moment or two though, he noticed the motion of the woman. She was waking up, and amazing Jack was able to snap himself out of his self-cast spell. He stood and slowly walked over, placing a large hand over the top of hers like a glove.
"Happy Valentine's Day," Jack said with a half smile, "though I guess it's a few days late." He chuckled a bit, obviously glad to see the woman had come to. "You're safe here, don't worry."

Valentine's Day. To Sam, it was just another Hallmark holiday set out to drive men and women to the store in search of flowers, cards, chocolate, and dust collecting stuffed toys. Maybe, it was because she had never received a valentine in school or anywhere else. Jacob had told her it was a marketing day, but still managed to give her only one Valentine before his death.
She felt a hand engulf hers and placed her thumb over his hand as a gesture of good will. His voice was soothing to her racing heart and she recognized his scent from before. Her vision was nearly back to normal when she glanced up to see the man she knew had helped her back at the gallery.
Offering a small smile, she quietly spoke while the energy slowly returned to her nerves and muscles.
"You.....you carried me out. I remember your scent. A nice one at that." She again closed her eyes with the sting of an incision bearing down on her skin. Another moan escaped her lips as she spoke again. "Where am I?"
