Jack didn't get out of the mansion all too much, so this rarity was going to become a pleasure. The calmest place he could think of was Starbucks, so that's where he'd start. He had donned a pair of pre-ripped jeans and a white shirt that was plain other than the hollister logo running across the chest in red. Not exactly winter clothes, so he brougt the thickest leather jacket he had along for the ride as well.
As he exited from the year old Eclipse, he rubbed his hands together up near his face. The chill plus the bright sun of a Westchester winter morning had him squinting his eyes slightly. Each breath was visible in short-lived puff of white moisture, clinging to the air and dispersing. He was glad once he entered the front door of the coffee shop that it was well-heated. The smell of morning brew always did wonders to make someone feel at home as well.
It wasn't too crowded, just a few unfamiliar faces. He had scanned quickly though, so he couldn't be sure. He spotted an empty stool right under the "Now Featuring Wireless Internet!" sign, and assured himself it'd be his. He ordered some hot caramel apple cider, and after slinking his fingers around the heat sleeve made his way over.

Daniel, wearing a pair of white pants, and a white unbuttoned shirt over a black muscle shirt, comes into the coffee store with the same friendly smile on his face, his messy white hair and few patches of snow falling off the shirt showing that he has just been in a snowball fight.
He brushes the extra snow off, chuckling a bit as he sees his reflection in the mirror. I might as well just sit in the snow, and only the black shirt would betray me. he thinks as he idly walks into the small store, coming to the counter and ordering himself a mocha.
As he waits, he scans the room, and quickly enough finds a few familiar faces, but decides to consort with the least familiar one of those, a fellow student from the Xavier institute, Jack, if he remembers correctly.
So, once he gets his mocha, the warmth of which he enjoys immensely, having gone out to fight in the snow without any winter clothes, or gloves even, Danny makes his way to the computers. He sits next to Jack, and then smiles broadly.
"Hey, Jack!" he greats the other with a small wave, showing an intention to trigger a conversation, and not just sit in silence by the computer. He does not have anything to do on-line, anyway, but no one else seems to be interested- everyone has their own laptop these days.

Jack was rather quiet as he sipped away at his apple cider. A wavering line of steam still flowed from the hole in the cover as he set it down. He was busy typing in his myspace password when the other kid from the mansion approached. He heard his name and closed his eyes a moment, hesitating a bit before he turned.
"What's up?" he replied, albeit in a much deeper and softer voice. He also seemed much less enthusiastic about it than the other guy did. Still, an even-tempered response was his typical reaction, even when he was excited or upset.
Jack didn't really know what else to say, so hed let him do the talking. He jerked his head around, figuring if Danny was here then there must be other students around as well. It wasn't often he was approached, usually people imagined conversations with him that he'd hear about a day later. Still, how welcome he was to it was still up in the air.

>"What's up?"
"Oh, nothing much...just trying to get some heat back into my system." Danny replies, his voice casual, the boy obviously showing no intention to be discouraged by the almost uninterested tone Jack replies.
"What about you?" he proceeds to ask, sipping his coffee idly, keeping a slight smile on as he shakes his head lightly, to get the white hair out of his eyes. Almost by an instinct, his hands reach down and fix his shirt, the habit of looking his best at all times revealing itself to anyone who had the keen eye to pick up such details.
"So, tell me, what is it? I got some hints at the Intramurals meeting, but I didn't want to probe too much..." he asks suddenly, referring to the question of what mutation Jack possessed, sure that the fact that his voice lowered a tad is enough for the other to figure out what he is asking. If not, Danny is bound to find another way, in any case.

Jack continued typing away on the computer, pulling up wikipedia and looking at the rules of some less popular sports such as rugby and handball. He turned to Daniel after a moment or two.
"So, tell me, what is it? I got some hints at the Intramurals meeting, but I didn't want to probe too much..."
"I don't think this is..." Jack looked around, then lowered his voice to a whisper, "strength and durability." He left one out, though his face was so serious that it was hard to read. He didn't like talking about the other one, because it required explanation, and also an admission that he had little control over it.
"You?" Jack asked, taking a sip of his hot cider.

>"strength and durability."
"Ah, I see...it figures, I guess...and on top of that you clearly don't lack anything mentally...much more perceptive than others, though..." he says in response, not quite sure himself if Jack gave him a complete answer or not, but did not bother to chase it any further- the other's face is quite reassuring.
>"You?"
"Me? Whatever you give me, really..." he replies with a light laugh, looking around as well, but this time in search of those familiar faces. Hmm...they're all gone...I guess I'll talk to them on another occasion... he thinks, spacing out for a few seconds before returning his attention to Jack. "I guess I should say slight telepathy..." he then adds, not offering any further explanation. After all, does not each mutant treasure their abilities like the hidden weapon which will get them out of trouble?
And then there is Danny's problem...he does not have anything defensive unless there is another mutant around him, and a willing one at that. I need to figure something out with that.
