The woods once again. Jaime looked around at the tall trees that now surrounded him. There was almost no sound but that of his own footsteps through the fallen leaves. The wind blew through the trees a bit every once in awhile making a low whistle. The sound was almost soothing to most, but not to Jaime. It was just a reminder that he was once again alone.
After the battle and the loss of his ability Jaime had hoped to return to his families farm and live in peace. The fear of his duplicating would be able to be put behind him. But he was not that lucky. Right before he was to leave a man bumped into him and once again he was beside himself. The realization that the “cure” was not real took its toll on him. His hopped for a normal life were dashed in an instant, and once again he was left with the feeling of utter aloneness.
After such a traumatic experience and an even bigger letdown most would turn to those that would understand, but not Jaime. He was alone in the world, at least in his own head, and to him the only choice was to go it alone again. He did not give a second thought to everyone else that had stood on his side with Magneto at Alkatraz. He thought only of once again making it on the streets.
Now though, he found himself wandering the woods close to the camp the others had been before the battle. After realizing there were others out there, others that may in some way know what he was feeling made him seek them out. Though some seemed a bit crazed when last he was near, he was sure to find some explanation for what had happened and why the cure had not worked. But most of all, he wanted to not be alone. He wanted to work toward a cause for once instead of just a reason to get by.
Pushing through the tree line and bushes he immerged to find scattered cloth and remnants of people who had once been there. But no sign of anyone now, or recently. He walked through what had once been the camp of the Brotherhood. Things were still scattered across the ground as if people had left in a hurry and didn’t grab anything but what they would desperately need. He wondered how many had actually returned here after the battle.
