Brainstorming graphical revamp

It's been suggested that revamping the site graphically would be cool.
So I figured I'd put this thread here and let people start bouncing ideas around for revamp.

Rules of the thread:
This is a brainstorming thread; the idea is to encourage people to propose graphics/layout ideas.
It is NOT to criticize ideas or to discuss their pros and cons or to argue about them.
Anything goes, however silly or goofy or half-baked. Think of this as a whiteboard for jotting things down.
We can spin off other threads to discuss pros and cons of various suggestions and turn them into a more workable form.

Well, I don't have complete complex ideas popping out of my brain meats, but.. um.. I'm just suggesting that if we do all new graphics and that fun stuff, it might look really snazzy if it matches the layout, or if we want to variate our color scheme and play with the HTML. Just looking at it from a joint perspective.

That sounds great to me. I'm willing to work with whatever banner color scheme that you like. We could also use the box at the top of the page for announcements, or something... or get rid of it entirely. As far as I'm concerned, it just makes me scroll more.

For fun, I've stumbled across this X-Men RPG online and really liked their graphics:

Something bold and eye-catching would be cool. Something that includes characters, as well... if you can somehow work the official movie X-Men logo into it, that would be awesome!

Don't mean to be pushy or anything - it's awesome you're doing this. I wish I could figure out Photoshop...

It's no problem! I'll take any suggestions you can give me. x3 I always save the original work unflattened so I can go back and make any adjustments if needed. But yes, bold and eye-catching. Whee!

I might as well use those Graphic Design classes for something, huh?

EDIT: An annoucements scroll is a fantabulous idea. Maybe like provide a link to a current plot arc thread, or do something that's become really popular like a memorable quote box that gives you different character quotes when you refresh.

I'll leave everything up to your artistic discretion, but I feel like I should point out that while there are a bajillion pictures of Hugh Jackman online, Logan isn't exactly a huge part of our game, so keep that kind of thing in mind while creating.

Aha, and I like the quotes idea. I'll have to talk to Pyro about things HTMLey and Proboards.

Of course, of course. I wouldn't dream of throwing up a banner of someone we don't use that much. That's like.. er.. false advertising. Almost. We still have Logan-y goodness.. just.. um.. not a lot. xD 'course my three-day weekend is almost over, I get out of school early tomorrow, so I can do some more work on it.

So, I was just playing around with the idea of still using a lit city as the background.. and then I got carried away and got this.



Mind you, I still have the original, unflattened version of this, so I can play around with the color. Red and black is a pretty popular scheme, same goes for just about any color and black. The contrast just looks spiffy. (:

Anywho.. nothing's set in stone, just throwing something out there. I'm thinking that putting all the active characters on one banner might be a little cluttered, but.. anyway.. if anyone wants to play around with it, feel free.

EDIT: Yes, that is smoke. Tee-hee. I mean.. c'mon.. destruction is fun, right?

If anyone's feeling up to it, I think it'd be cool to see what that looked like with some done-to-scale Xmen visible in the distance (mostly the fliers, I guess)

Managed some fliers, but just Angel and Storm. I tried Magneto, but he didn't fit. :/ There aren't that many shots of fliers actually. Oh, and, I tried out blue, obviously. I have blue, green, and red all done if there's any question about the color scheme.

I like your work! All of it looks really good... what does everyone else think?

Here's my reasoning, though... 100M is really about the characters. So I figure that the banner should reflect that. I like your style, but is there any way you'd be able to incorporate more of the characters? Maybe something that's vaguely citylike, but has clusters of characters? Maybe Storm and Jake in a corner, some X-students over there, some Brotherhood over in that corner?

I hope I don't sound ungrateful. I appreciate all of your hard work so far, since I don't have anywhere near the graphical talent to do this.
