This is in response to Laurie's interest in wrapping up the future stuff. Last time I suggested this, there was still some interest in continuing the DoFP arc, so I decided to let it go on for awhile. Now, though, it might be a good idea to start wrapping thing up.
Last time it seemed like there was interest in a climax-type thread, with Illyana arriving at the last minute while the 2027s and 2007s are defending Warren's BH base.
We could tie this into Bobby and Ororo's thread, as well. They're currently off to pick up information/SEKRIT item from an informant... that information could very well be that Bob Sr's on the move. Or it could be a trap!
Any thoughts? I think it might be a good idea to wrap up the future, as well, especially with the influx of new players.

I'm up for wrapping up the whole future-ness. It seems that most of our threads now are revolving around the present anyways. May I request that things not get really going until the weekend? The end of the semester and I are in the middle of a love/hate relationship and it looks like we may be headed for a rather sour divorce. *insert slur of curse words and computer smashing here* .... *though I'm not smashing my computer. I'm smashing the computer lab's computer. I'd never hurt my wee innocent Mac.*

Absolutely not. You know I'm only out for you to fail out of college!
Actually, I didn't figure that we'd get going on it that soon. Just because I wanted to hear everyone's opinion first...

Way I see it, we have several choices to make, and several options for each. I’ll try to summarize here. - A – What happens to our heroes?
- 1: Bob and Storm discover that SHIELD has found the BH HQ and is planning an attack. They run back in time for a big fight; lots of dramatic NPC and future-self deaths. Just when things look hopeless, Illyana does her Deus Ex Machina appearance and returns us to the past, in the hopes we can make it never happened.
- 2: Bob and Storm discover that someone is holding Illyana prisoner, for some reason or other... which is why we haven’t been able to reach her. Our heroes go off on a rescue mission. There’s a small fight and we bust Illyana out. She sends us back to the past, as above.
- 3: We finally get in touch with Illyana, who shows up and sends us back to the past… all perfectly civilized, no fighting required. Except maybe Toni takes a swing at Bob just for the fun of it.
- B – How much of this do we actually RP on the thread?
- 1: All of it.
- 2: Just the very end… dramatic tearful goodbyes and all that stuff, followed by our arrival in the present.
- 3: None of it; we pick up action now (April ’08) and simply declare it all to have happened without RPing it (much as we did with protecting Neverland from the Brotherhood, for example).
- C – When do we return?
- 1: More or less when we left… October ’07 or so.
- 2: More or less now… April ’08 or so. (There are consequences to this! PCs have been gone for about six months. Josh has blown his first year at college. Bob is even further away from graduating on time. Gail wants to kill everyone who has even heard the word “Xavier.” Warren is tired of explaining to his parents that, no, Josh has not run out on him. Etc.)
- 3: Somewhere in between.
- D – What happens then?
- 1: We RP identifying and stopping the cause of the Washington Massacre. (Someone will have to run this plot.)
- 2: We assert IC that we’re trying to identify the cause, but haven’t managed it; we then forget about it.
Have I missed anything? So, I suggest we allow a week or so for discussion. At some point after Thursday April 10, Josh will make a decision, and we will move forward from there. My $0.02: - Under the circumstances I recommend A3 + B3… in other words, we simply move on. Simple, straightforward, minimal posting requirements (none, in fact). (Obviously, anyone who wants to run threads in the future as a flashback or whatever can do that.)
- Personally I’d prefer C2… provides some real consequences to having been to the future, gives characters something to talk about and think about and deal with. But I don’t want to force anyone to deal with that if they don’t want to, so I’m willing to go along with C1.
- D2 unless someone volunteers to run the D1 plot.

I'm with Bob on pretty much all of that, consequences are good things though six months is pretty hardcore. I'd have to, you know, actually think out how my various characters would react to that huge a separation since it's been 6 months RL time but I've played out maybe two weeks IC time. What's happened to the Brotherhood with its leader gone for six months? Has Sherridan just taken over? Thoughts from Brotherhood people on that?
I'll be able to devote actual attention to this other than my thread to keep my fingers in it come Monday when I will have more computer access than sporadic dashes to the library. I hope. it seems every time I make a commitment here life shrieks with glee and throws twenty things at me so maybe next my campus will decide to embrace the Amish lifestyle and you'll never hear from me again, heh.

Oo! Sherridan taking over the Brotherhood in your absence sounds like fun. Or perhaps some NPC did. Hee! It would be funny if Primer had to ask for the X-Men's help in regaining control.

I'm up for some consequences, but I don't know if I want Josh blowing away his first year at college, lol.
I'm also good for the cutting the future short business and resuming present operations. In addition, I would be willing to help facilitate the Washington alter-the-future thread, if someone else would be willing to help me. Sounds like we might want to wait a bit for that one, though.

Hey look, it's the guy who tends to disappear! *insert dramatic music*
Sorry for Chris' large failure to contribute anything of substance, but when I think about it, he tends to be like that-- just spewing out useless data.
Anyways, I think I'm fine for a while and won't need to be absent.
If you want to do anything with Sherridan, he's wide open. I haven't really played him all that much, so it would be in good practice.
If you guys decide you want Chris to be of any use, he's pretty much open as well.
Don't know how much I can contribute towards how it should be ended, since any of the ways suit me, and I haven't been all that active. Sorry, again!

I think Sherridan should find Terra in Central Park... he could use a nice manipulable girl to corrupt mentor.

Roger would be so unhappy about that. xDD But who's to say a jealous spat couldn't be interesting?
As far as Jack's family goes, if he was gone for six months, I can only assume utter chaos. Lissa would probably go so far as to drop out of medical school or something. Without Jack's presence in the family also as heir to his mother's estate, Phil could probably get away with murder. However, that could allow a handwave over the possibilities for Lissa and Arthur.. (Yay tension!)
Personally, I think a change in power would be very interesting in the Brotherhood. It'd shake things up a bit for the people who had been around since Magneto who maybe stuck it out for Primer, but gave up after a switch to Sherridan. The BH would probably lose and gain some people at the same time--allowing for some new faces if we feel it necessary.

Toni and I were kicking around an idea - we could have Josh and Toni go out there. Maybe someone like the Friends of Humanity (or random ruffians) start hassling the pretty girl in the park?
Cerebro is plot device #1!
Terra, any thoughts?

Hey! So yeah, I'm definitely for anything that gets the RPing going stronger in the Brotherhood and Sherridan is probably the most likely to take over in Primer's absence so if his handler is good with it I'm good with it. Now the question is how much does he want to hold onto it and how much does Primer want control back? Interesting *twirls mustache then runs away to class before time is up*

I'm curious as to how Sherridan would take Roger's random disappearing for six months and just bam! the Spot lover is back.

Alright, I think everyone who's wanting to chime in on this has done so. So... I'm going to make a decision, since if I don't we'll be stuck in 2027 forever and let's face it... dystopian future? Not for me.
Bob and Storm discovering that SHIELD is planning an attack. Everyone gears up for a major attack, things look hopeless, but Illyana finally arrives from Russia to send everyone back... before the battle has begun. There is much gnashing of teeth - the X-Men want to stay behind and help, but the future Brotherhood have the feeling this might be the decisive conflict. Warren and Toni decide to send everyone back now - if someone from 2007 died in battle, their corresponding future would simply cease to exist. Much drama - everyone is sent back.
No one knows what happens.
What they do know is that in 2008, a mass psychogenic riot in Washington DC will break out and cause multiple nuclear launches, almost cumlinating in World War III. This is the direct setup for the mutant-hating dystopian future that 2027 holds.
Everything changes in 2008 - and the X-Men are the only ones that know about this.
----------------------
Alright, so basically this will bring 'Days of Future Past' to a close. Everyone is more than welcome to post in this era until their threads are finished, but I think things have mostly died down. After this point, any new threads should be made in the 'Flashbacks' section.
This is basically a combination of A1 and A3 from Bob's flowchart. I thought it might be more interesting if we don't know what happens to out future counterparts... and it saves having to muddle through battle memories. We're not playing through any of it.
Finally, I don't think anyone sounded that interested in missing 6+ months - we can say that everyone came back a couple weeks later. This is enough that Warren, Gail, etc were worried sick and police were possibly involved, etc.
I like wrapping things up. I would love to do a Washington thread to actually avert dystopia, since otherwise everyone will die and Warren will become an old grump. However, I don't know who will volunteer to run it besides me. I'm willing to do it, but I'd like assistance from everyone, preferably one or two people who are willing to help me facilitate it. This would entail helping starting threads to bump the plot forward, playing NPCs, etc (by playing NPCs I mean posting as them - often the kind of thing I do in my own Josh or Storm posts) I'm probably not going to be able to do this in the next month, though. I graduate in May and I'm going to be running full steam until about May 17th. After that, though, I'm able to devote more attention to this. Okay with everyone?
Post comments, questions, that kind of thing here. I want to hear it all!
