Sounds good to me. As far as helping out, if you need someone, I'm open, although I probably shouldn't be made a first choice...

Josh- I'm pretty sure now that I can help with a Washington DC plot if you still need someone to collaborate with. We'll have to see as it gets closer to the day- my school lets out late May, very early June so that's finals for me buuut as a (I think, maybe, I'll declare...sometime...) creative writing major I don't have any final exams except delivering a monologue for my acting class. In any case I'd be happy to help however I could. Just drop me a line sometime if you're in a planning mood

Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help! We can start doing some plotting as things get closer. I feel like if we have frame with what's going to happen it makes things go a little more smoothly.

Some thoughts, re: the DC Massacre... Biggest question is who is actually responsible. Everything else follows from there. My thoughts on viable possibilities, and their implications: - Emma Frost (White Queen)
She was gonna use her stolen repaired Cerebro to mind-control the government (and blow a gasket in the process). The X-Men/BH find out via off-camera legwork and track her down before she can actually use Cerebro, resulting in a fight scene against Emma in her lair. She has tech defenses, mercenaries, NPC mutant allies... also can temporarily mind-control PCs to fight each other, if that's fun.
- Charles Xavier (Onslaught)
Who knows what he was going to try? He's crazy. Anyway, the X-Men get too close, so he decides to "recruit" them as per previous Onslaught plot, resulting in the old-timers (Storm, Josh, Bob) vs the newcomers (everybody else, plus the BH). Ultimately the old-timers are freed, resulting in a fight scene against Xavier on Muir Island, very much like the above.
- Nathan (the baby)
Now that Josh knows what to look for, when the X-Men find Nathan it becomes obvious that he's responsible. It was an accident. Mostly this becomes soap-opera... do we neutralize his power? Kill him? Other? How does Jorren react? Etc.
There are other logical possibilities, but those are the three I can think of that result in an actual plotline.

I'm not really all that picky in terms of who the evil villain is, but if I had to pick, I'd say Xavier/Onslaught. I just like the idea of the guy going completely bat shit crazy and making his former students go after all the noobs. I think that'd be one hell of a fun ride.
That, and I've been wanting Matty to be evil for, like, ever.

Hey, I wanted to poke this thread up to see what everyone thinks.
Anyone up for a Battle of Washington type thread this fall? If you don't know what I'm talking about, plz read the previous posts in this thread.
We can have it a mix of battle and plotty-type elements. The main goal would be to stop the nuclear launches that precipitate the Days of Future Past alternate timeline.
I think it would be nice to provide some closure (heh) for this because otherwise a lot of nasty shit is going to happen in the next couple years for our characters (Josh dead, Warren grumpy, Laurie's a ho, Bob-Hitler, etc).
Once we're a bit into the semester and we've got people around, who's interested in participating?

Woo! Can't promise active participation, but anything that encourages me to type has got to be a good thing, right? So count me at least sorta-in. (As in, don't wait on me, but I'll pitch in as time and energy levels allow.)

So, I posted this in August and I was wondering where we stand on it: Hey, I wanted to poke this thread up to see what everyone thinks.

Who's around and available? We've had a lot of busy folks with the start of the semester, whether we are teaching *grin* or learning. While the X-Men characters would likely take point on a serious mission, we can engineer things so that student characters are caught up in the middle of this, say on a class trip, or whatever! This thread was going to include Matthew blowing up, an evil Xavier or sketchy Emma Frost, and Josh possibly discovering Nathan in the chaos.

I say yes, definitely, and I'm totally there if I can manage to keep my time all set. Jack and Roger are always up for fun chaos-ness. Speaking of someone from the BH, where do they stand now, exactly? Because I totally have a fun idea running around in my head that would inadvertently cause some insanity...

I'm glad someone is up for it! Toni just keeps posting artwork with her fingers in in her ears! Do you really want Jack to die, Toni???
Brotherhood is almost defunct at the present time. What's your idea? No one is really posting with them, and of course the action is pretty slow in general around here lately.
I want to kick off this Washington thread to knock some life into this place, but I'm afraid no one will post!

Well, since this attack is against all mutants--I'm assuming, correct me if I'm wrong--it'd be interesting to smush the X-Men and what's left of the BH together and forcing them to begrudgingly both chip in for the sake of their own kind. Because I like tension and clashing personalities..
And I'll definitely post. Everyone knows I lurve action-y things.

I think that's a really good idea! So... calling anyone else? Last time we were considering it, I had Warren, Danny, Toni, and Laurie express interest. I'm assuming that Warren is out for a bit still, he might be able to chip in a couple posts, but if we need him at all I'm sure he doesn't care if I do a bit of NPCing. Laurie has abandoned us (sob) so.... Danny, Toni, what are you up for? The newer players who were not involved in the Days of Future Past thread are welcome, of course. I'm trying to gauge interest so I can figure out the best way to set up the opening thread If we've got a couple non-adults who are interested, we can group them together and make them be in Washington for some reason. I'm probably going to start the adults thread in the Institute.

So, I know that some people are sometimes hesitant to post unless they have an idea where a thread is going. However, please feel free to add and let things evolve as you see fit. I was thinking that the 'Battle of Washington' thread can start out with a bit of pre-game chat and prep, and then move into Washington itself, which is overrun with violent mind-controlled citizens. The Friends of Humanity are there as well, taking advantage of the situation. After a bit of free-flowing melee, we can have things get interesting - part of this event, according to the future, resulted in botched nuclear launches. Of course, there is also the brains of the operation to deal with as well. Emma? Xavier? who is it?!!? none of us know! Have fun with this - i'm excited to finally wrap up the DoFP arc and give things a bit of a happy future. It's a serious topic but we can still have fun!
